Well a lot of AARoads' userbase is easily 10-20 years older than me, so they don't seem like the kind of people who'd be all over social networking stuff.

Ah, so it's not very clear then.
The intent of one arrow being white-on-green is to show that it's an optional lane and the "exit only" doesn't apply to it, but when the signs are thrown together so haphazardly it's hard to tell.
Here's a permanent sign that has the same principle. Note how both signs have arrows pointing to the same lane:

Well, I know Meijer closes their west entrance (the one by the pharmacy, which used to be the toy section) after 10 PM and hangs signs on the doors that say "Fire Door / Alarm Will Sound" on one side and "This Entrance Closed / Please Use 24-hour Entrance" on the other side.
