I'm not sure whether the party itself is horrible or whether it's just certain factions of the party that are horrible. I lean towards the latter option, but if so, the fact that such factions are tolerated is disappointing.

This is true, but strong prescriptivism is pretty much anathema to the way that I look at the world, particularly with respect to things like art. Maybe it's just because of the situations that I have found myself in arguing about these matters, but I really do not take kindly to the whole "X is not truly Y because Y is always Z!" line of thinking

Not much, honestly, but I'm in a good mood. I went for a walk this morning (that's when I took that picture of the railroad crossing), then I went to the grocery store, then finally I went to class and actually started to understand a concept that evaded me the first time around. I am using a Windows computer right now, running Chrome as the browser. This is a peculiar trade-off: I vastly prefer to use a Mac, but the only Mac that I have working right now is too out-of-date to run Chrome, which I find markedly superior to Safari in most (but not all) aspects.
