I miss my old windows 3.1 (not La Computadora ,LC was a different, older, computer). It went TA-DA when you started it up. Nova Computadorus is a brand spanking new 98; I finally have my own 98! I used to love playing on my parent's 98, all the games and that lovely, lovely startup noise; as a youtube comment says:
"Oh wow. It's so weird hearing this sound again. I was just a kid, it's so nostalgic. i know how this will sound but hearing this actually makes me feel like I'm about to enter a safe and fun environment full of those old games I played back in the day. Kind of like a dream world........ How attached WAS I to computers as a kid? O_O"
(actually, my parents old 98 and NC are the same computer, the same 98. It's newer than LC, so it's new in my mind)
I don't know. My parents had La Computadora before I was born.
It got tinkered with a lot, I mean, A LOT. I'm not sure if it even counts as any specific computer anymore other than itself (it ran 3.1 after extensive tinkering by my mom).
I mean, I always told you guys that I ran firefox, but it was really Opera 3.62 (I didn't want to look like that kid at school who is gushing about his/her new NES when everyone else has a gamecube).
A photo of it shows it with a floppy disk driver of about 5 inches (I'm guessing by comparing the floppy disk driver to the other parts of the computer); but my mom added an old 8-inch floppy disk drive so she could use data from her IBM.
It's sort of like the car that gets modified so much by its owner that you can't tell if it was originally a ford or a chevy or whatever. I think that it probably doesn't count as being the same computer it was when my parents first got it by virtue of it being modified so much (I think just about everything on it has been replaced.)
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I'm home now
Had to make a slight detour to Whitehall to pick up my sister from school
She was going to stay after for some kind of activity but changed her mind at the last minute

I was looking for old chinese music and it turns out of them can't show up in the US. For some reason. Most of those videos don't have that problem yet this is the one that doesn't get shown. >:(

Ah. It sounds like an old 286 that was upgraded to a 386 so it could run Windows 3.1 properly. 5-1/4" drives were technically obsoleted by the PS/2's 3.5" drive in 1987, but they still showed up in newer computers until around 1995.

Hmm, I'll have to look up the 286.
EDIT: After looking up pictures of the 80286 and comparing it to the old photograph of La Computadora, yeah, I think that's what La Computadora is.
The motherboard looks different (what with the added CD and added 8-inch floppy drive; as well as modifications it must have had on the inside); and the keyboard was thrown away after it stopped working, and the mouse has been replaced, but we still have the original monitor (it might just be a similar-shaped monitor, though; or it might have been modified. I don't know if the original 286 monitor could do color or enough graphics for anything more than text).
Unless the 286 had a deliberately-monochrome screen (amber on black or green on black), I'm pretty sure it can do color and graphics; VGA's been around since 1987 as well.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
So I'm thinking that my desire to acquire a better film library for Lions Gate is, for now, like stitching purple patches to my clothing in an attempt to appear upper-class

Yesterday Once More, Hurting Each Other, and All You Get From Love Is A Love Song are my favorite three carpenters songs.
I never listened to them because I am too cool
Cool, or coolest?
is this a smooth jazz version of "adventure of the lovestruck tomboy"?

some people walk away from you,
but I won't! I won't!
If you don't talk as most people do,
some people talk and laugh at you,
but I won't! I won't!
I'll walk with you, I'll talk with you,
that's how I'll show my love for you.
Jesus walked away from none,
he gave his love to everyone,
so I will! I will!
Jesus blessed all he could see,
then turned and said, "come follow me",
so I will! I will!
I'll walk with you, I'll talk with you,
that's how I'll show my love for you.
and so is every child.
Some are bright and happy,
and some are meek and mild.
Everyone is needed
for just what they can do.
You're the only person
who ever can be you.
and you know me
we are as different as the sun and the sea
I know you, and you know me,
and that's the way it's supposed to be.
I help you, and you help me
we learn from problems and we're starting to see
I help you, and you help me
and that's the way it's supposed to be.
I love you, and you love me.
We reach together for the best we can be.
I love you, and you love me.
And that's the way it's supposed to be.
