  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

i've only read the little bolded blurb and i'm already in love with this woman
I heard a little fragment of an NPR feature on her. She sounds pretty awesome.
  • Is it me, or is  Cowboy Bebop sort of like Zelda in that pretty much everyone acknowledges that they're really good but actual discussion of them is surprisingly sparse?

Do either of those count as that for that matter?
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Acknowledged classics tend to be talked about less in regular discussion after a certain point because there isn't much new to add. It's hard to come up with anything original to say about them because it has already been said, often more articulately and intelligently, by other people. Additionally, when it comes to stuff like Cowboy Bebop at least, a lot of people getting into the medium tend to start there rather than end up there.

  • I'm not certain that discussion of Cowboy Bebop has been exhausted. Evangelion is older IIRC and people still talk about that.

    so cool.

Catalan independence is one of those things I'm surprised isn't all over tumblr.

Evangelion is also still divisive to this very day, and there are still quite a lot of people who don't think it's very good.

Whether or not you agree with those people, you must admit that there is far less debate over the quality of Cowboy Bebop.

I have been told that I was that guy in my English and History classes for most of my high school career. I am sorry, by proxy...

Because NGE is a special kind of screwed up that polarises and galvanises fan madness like nothing else. It is accessible enough to have attracted a strong following, yet flawed and bizarre enough to confuse or infuriate just enough people to keep things lively. Less flawed, more easily parsed (yet not necessarily less deep) works like Bebop and even Trigun aren't talked up as much, even if they are "classics;" the same goes for more cryptic or alienating works like Lain or Utena.

  • What about Zelda, though? I mean, that series continues to this day. The most recent release was in 2011.

You haven't seen the Zelda fandom, then.

    Good.

Most Zelda discussion I've seen (and I do see it, often on gaming subreddits) is on whether or not the new releases are any good or not.

It's been awhile since vanilla ate my post.
  • I'm gonna go play some Path of Exile and be a witchy witch who witches things.

My point exactly. Other than that, there's not really a great deal of analysis going on.
  • I wouldn't know anything about that since I've only played the Gameboy games and it was a long time ago.

Maybe there's just not much to analyze, idk.
  • I'd say it's on the medium-high end of the "possibility for analysis" scale.

I'm listening to the Fire Emblem medley from Super Smash Bros. Brawl

The piece itself actually hails from Super Smash Bros. Melee and was one of my favorite pieces of music from that game; the Brawl version sounds tighter...
