Damn, DreamWorks should have really released Turbo a month before they did.
That would have given it a head start on Despicable Me 2 and perhaps given it a bit more exposure as a result. It might've still had Monsters U to worry about but still, if it were released around roughly July 17 it'd still have a good amount of time to make the good money before MU stole the show.
You know, I think I figured out why I enjoyed it so much. It's a little bit because I associated it with the most fun night of my summer thus far, and a little bit because I think I have a weird attraction to films that have dumb premises but deliver on them just well enough that they're on the right side of the line between fun and vapid. Hence why I'm able to enjoy things like Turbo, but reel away in horror at shit like The Smurfs. -hissing noise-
It's a bit crazy to think it ended up being my favorite of the summer with Despicable Me 2 and MU around, but you know what? I'm proud of it. Hell, I might get the Blu-ray when it's out.
i hate the smurfs too, i have never seen a smurfs film, i hate them because there was a novelty smurfs christmas song with THE EXACT SAME TUNE as 'Spanish Bombs' by the clash and now i cant listen to Spanish Bombs without thinking of the fucking smurfs
