He's an incredibly "brave" and abrasive individual that argues against (straw) Christians and other people in such a "logical" and not-at-all-almost-entirely-vitriolic fashion. And yes, I know, I used that stupid meme, but from experience so many of his fans act like he is.
I sometimes check out the science/skeptic blog Pharyngula because the fellow who writes it posts some great stuff about animals from time to time. Recently, I stumbled upon a post that the guy did about The Amazing Atheist, complete with updates on this... person's responses. Mainly, Pharyngula dude was taking him to task for being a misogynist, with a few nods to his general narcissism. On the one hand, the post and retorts were very funny and eloquent; on the other, what they were responding to was so ripe and vile...

So what are your thoughts on the Michael Shermer thing.
He has gotten multiple accusations of rape, lee, after an atheist con-goer (I believe it was) spoke up to him about it.
Hmmm. It seems that Myers was simply reporting what he heard in good faith. I cannot say anything for sure about Shermer, given that there isn't a lot of hard evidence and the situation is still developing, but I really don't want to treat the words of a potential victim with anything less than complete respect.
What's more disappointing is that when looking up Shermer, I read an article of his about trying to seek common ground with moderate religious people that was remarkable fair and sensible. It is a shame when seemingly OK people turn out to be horrible...

Hence, accusations. I'm not treating the reports any differently, personally. And I agree there, though I didn't have any particular feelings for him before this.
