Filesharing is a mixed bag, depending on how prevalent it is, how well known the work is, how available it is to consumers through legal means and at what price points and in what formats, how much it is encouraged or discouraged, and probably a few other factors.
Project Gutenberg is not illegal. It collects and digitizes old works like Alice in Wonderland, and all sorts of other books from people that are long dead; i.e., books that are free to the public. It's totally legal to share all of that stuff, after a certain date, where literature is concerned.

When someone disagrees with me, my instinct is to apologize for what I said and say that I am wrong and the person disagreeing with me is right. And then I usually place whatever it is that the person-who-disagreed-with-me said and file it under "truth".
