    Why did they do that?

My guess is that someone at one of the few operating stores noticed a stop sign needed replaced and simply bought one and mounted it on the old pole.

Also, while looking up Brice Road pictures I found this: The new style of street sign used by the City of Reynoldsburg. I don't like it.
(Bonus points if you got distracted by the painted-over "ink well" sign)
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    I don't like it either.

I kind of wonder what the thought process was behind it. "Hey, let's comply with the new standard by using mixed-case names, but violate a long-existing standard by putting it in Helvetica!"

Still, it's better than Gahanna's signs. (Ignore the wonky-ness of the photo)
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Why is there so much screwed-up signage?

Also I was wondering whether or not it was standard practice to put the city seal on signage. You are contagious

Well, until recently, there were very few standards for street name signs. They weren't considered a "traffic control device" and as such every city pretty much did what they wanted--there were parts of Gahanna, in fact, where the name was literally painted on a wooden post sticking out of the ground.

As for the city seal--some places do it and some don't. It's listed as an "Option" in the MUTCD.

Go Monkey Go is in my head. Not surprising, seeing as how as I can kind of relate to it.

Also I'm trying to think happy thoughts now

I was worried I seemed a bit emo.

I wouldn't worry too much about that.

God knows I've had my share of emo moments lately.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I haven't felt like being creative lately.

Though for some reason the "chronic crying" people providing the Earth's water on I Am Weasel seemed Old English Thompson-esque to me.

I like Old English Thompson, for some reason. It's got just the right level of absurdity without being 100% nonsensical.

I should entertain myself with something.

Personally I've been looking at gender-related stuff for the past half hour or so.

I think I would find transgender stuff fascinating even if I didn't have a personal investment in it.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
Is it weird to not feel strongly gendered?
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
    I don't know.

I was thinking earlier about this time in elementary school when a classmate called me "half-boy, half-girl". I think he meant it as an insult (albeit a "friendly teasing" kinda insult), but I liked it because that was how I thought of myself and hearing someone else say that seemed to validate it.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I'm not sure I ever felt "girly", though.

Oh, right. That's not what I was getting at. I was just relating an anecdote of mine that your post reminded me of.

You know what's weird? I felt less girly when I was totally obsessing over My Little Pony a few months ago than I did before or after. I guess it just goes to show that interests don't necessarily reflect one's gender identity.

I found this kinda weird. A photo of the sign, taken in 2003, uploaded in 2008 after they haven't used that logo for about 2 years. And it looks like an official CML account, too. (Though it's hard to tell)

And of course New Albany's sign has to be all "upscale"

(This is the style of sign almost all the other branches currently have)

^ The software interprets both a <br> tag and a line break in the HTML as a line break. Which is annoying and wrong, but there's nothing we can do about it.

^^^ pink (you posted right as I clicked on the thread)

    ^ I'm not either. It's disappointing.

I should probably play with PSE.

Interstate is better, aesthetically at least.

    Hell if I know.

I'm currently checking my bank account to see if I have enough to pay my library fine so I can check out a copy of Alice in Wonderland.

...Though it might actually be cheaper just to buy a copy of the book, huh?

Now I'm reminded vaguely of how I spent the last several months of 2004 thinking Brandy & Mr. Whiskers was the best thing ever. I haven't seen it in ages, though

doesn't help that it hasn't been anywhere since 2006

I'm trying to remember what I was obsessed with in 2004, and I'm not coming up with a whole lot.

I think that was around the time I discovered the existence of roadgeek websites, though. By accident, too--someone on the Snopes.com forums made reference to ArizonaRoads.com, so I went there and found myself taken aback that someone cared as much about roads as I did.

That's one of the cool things about the internet--no matter how weird you are, there's always someone just as weird as you.

I'm not tired either, and it's 4:30 in the morning.

And my mother wants us to go out at 11:00 tomorrow...I'll let her do the driving, since by then I'll be sleepy as fuck
