Is it bad that sometimes the idea of hedonism appeals to me?
No. I've had similar thoughts.
In other news, one of the blogs I follow on Tumblr made a Rayman sweater for Animal Crossing based on the one I drew for Mabel in that picture I did and I'm just wicked honored right now like wow
I don't have a 3DS (and as such can't play ACNL) but man, I would wear that thing religiously given the chance

ok so I will not try to play Battle Garegga because Raizing was evil and demented and while I love watching people play their games, I *hate* playing them. :D

I dunno it just bothers me that surviving is more about kamikaze suicide bombing in the right places and picking up the right items and destroying boss parts in the right order than it is about dodging and shooting, and also that these things must be done in order to keep the rank (a.k.a. difficulty) down, otherwise the game becomes literally impossible to survive.
Regarding that video I posted earlier: A few people have been saying it's from 1969. I say "no way". A lot of the effects shots are imitating the effects from, among other things, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Black Hole, which came out in 1977 and 1979, respectively. One of the ships has a tactical display that looks like the one from Alien, also from 1979. The music isn't credited, but the synths they're using didn't exist until the mid-1970s (in particular, you couldn't get decent string sounds until the late 1970s). Hell, at one point, they have BASIC code scrolling on a screen, and that was practically unknown outside Dartmouth and a few curious hackers until the TRS-80, Apple II and PET all shipped with it in ROM in 1977.

"Oh I'm just going to do one casual lunatic attempt before bed" turned into "attempt lunatic 4 times and see each attempt suddenly and utterly destroyed at various parts of the game." Now I am more awake. :)

hmmm I still don't know which shot type to use... they all have pluses and minuses.
Reimu's spirit type has homing, which is a huge plus, but it is also very weak against bosses. It is good for clusterf*ck attacks where aiming is like impossible, and it has a potent bomb. Reimu is slower so she can dodge very accurately.
Her dream type, on the other paw, has both high power and a spread that can cover much of the screen, making it generally very useful. Its bomb is good for nothing but wiping the screen.
Marisa's magic type is the most powerful but also the most focused and least fast, requiring precise aiming. Its bomb is not very strong. Her movement speed is high, which is good for collecting items but makes micro-dodging even more grievous.
Her love type, which I gravitate towards, has a little bit of a spread, plus piercing lasers (which are, unfortunately, a little unreliable as they often must phase out and turn on again). The biggest advantage with it is its bomb: the screen-filling, crowd-obliterating master spark, her 'signature spell,' which also has the longest invincibility period.
I experiment with all of them. It is difficult to tell which one is the best for me to use.

For some reason the insistence of Android "hackers" to insist upon calling devices by their development codenames annoys me.
Is there really a reason to say "grouper" and "tilapia" instead of "Nexus 7 Wi-Fi" and "Nexus 7 3G", aside from trying to make yourself sound like one of the cool kids?

I remember Apple fans doing that a lot, too, especially after Apple released three entirely different machines under the name "PowerBook G3" (in chronological order: Wall Street, Lombard, and Pismo). Now that Apple no longer uses codenames for machines, it's not common anymore.

Ok, yeah, I hadn't thought of multiple devices with the same brand name. Given the high likelihood that the current models' successors will also be called "Nexus 7" it does make sense to try and differentiate them somehow...

Things I learned today: the official name of OSU's prominent cancer hospital?
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.
Now I see why it's almost always referred to simply as "The James".

^ It seems like it. I would read it as a study of human nature or something.
I feel nostalgic-ish.
