Wow, I'm going through the Standard Snippet page on TVT, and most of the links work! That page has a long history of broken links, mainly because until recently Hollywood hated YouTube and would delete large swathes of things without provocation.

You know, it's interesting; Opera 15 is almost like the exact opposite of the old Opera.

The older Opera tried to be everything to everyone; it jammed itself with all sorts of features like a full email client and an IRC client and a BitTorrent client all sorts of ways to customize each one.

The new Opera is just a browser, and an incredibly stripped-down one at that. It doesn't even have a traditional bookmark interface, for example; they expect you to just use the customizable "new tab" page instead.

Looking at Phoenix on The National Map and Google Maps, and it looks even more like soulless, cookie-cutter suburbia than Loudoun County, VA. :P And the sprawl is amazing; a lot of open space and small towns have been subsumed. I hear a lot of them are empty now, too, ever since the economy took a dump.

  • My very core has been shaken, and I can't escape the feeling that Human being cores aren't selling very cheaply anymore. What with this economy and all.

Does anyone know how to build the center of a human being? Not a whole human being mind you, just the fabric of what it means to be human and then go V'room V'room.

Repetition I admit is a great teacher, I have learned a lot from repetition, but not love. Love is taught, not learned. Whatever that means.

Sometimes I say words, sometimes those words mean a lot to people, and other times they don't. This behavioral pattern of saying words is obviously just enough of a fubar to suffer from undue consequences.

And now I'm looking at the Saturday morning schedules for the broadcast channels here, and they are pathetic. No one runs cartoons anymore; it's all either TV-Y stuff for preschoolers or very young gradeschoolers, news shows, or infomercials. Practically all of the channels here (except, oddly enough, WRC and WDCW) run the required E/I stuff, a bit of news, then go back to sleep until the afternoon. Unbelievable.

WUSA must be running Cookie Jar TV, those are cartoons (not very good ones, but still)...

okay that was pedantic, Saturday morning broadcast TV depresses me now too

The only block that even tries now is Vortexx, which isn't even programmed by its network (The CW), it's programmed by Saban Brands (yes, Haim Saban is back)

Yeah, the only cartoon WUSA is running is Liberty's Kids (which I've seen before and is OK, though still a bit on the preachy side since it's E/I). Doodlebops seems to be a costume show sort of like Barney or Teletubbies, and would obviously be for really little kids. They run an hour of animal shows, CBS This Morning, the Cookie Jar/DHX shows, then it's back to sleep until 2 PM. They don't even go to network until 3!

I'm like "YOU HAVE A 'PLATES OFF' BUTTON, I HOPE. USE IT AND SAVE THE POWER. :P"

Oh, and I bet Sunday is even more of a train wreck. Let's have a look:
    • WDCW runs a few religious programs, what appears to be some E/I or filler programs that didn't make it into the Saturday schedule, then goes back to sleep until 1 PM.
    • WRC runs local news, the Sunday version of Today, the usual Sunday talking-heads shows, a few E/I shows that didn't make it into Saturday morning, then takes a brief nap and goes right into sports coverage.
    • WTTG is much the same as WDCW, only they run local news and Fox News Sunday as well.
    • WJLA runs a few religious programs, Good Morning America, the ABC taking heads shows, then it's straight into sports at noon (they're running an IndyCar race).
    • WUSA runs religious programming, The McLaughlin Group, what appears to be a bunch of paid-up "news" shows with names like "Government Contracting Weekly", the CBS talking heads, some Bloomberg thingy, more McLaughlin, then back to sleep until they go to network for golf at 3 PM.
    • ION is the dreariest of all. Nothing but infomercials and a few religious shows until 1 PM, when they run 5 episodes (!) of something called Flashpoint. Judging from the cast (Amy Jo Johnson is in it, and I know she hasn't done anything important in a while), I'm guessing it's an Awful Tribune Action Series. :P

A few months ago I saw Busytown Mysteries on WWJ (Detroit's notoriously bad CBS station)

It was depressing to me to see Huckle Cat and Lowly Worm rendered in cheap Flash animation

I saw a tiny bit of that once, though I don't remember where.

It was saddening, especially since I loved The Busy World of Richard Scarry as a kid.
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
I was an adult (specifically a college dropout having an existential crisis) when I first saw The Busy World of Richard Scarry, but I loved the books as a kid and the series didn't disappoint. A cheap Flash version of that would make me cry.
