Said Angela Schlosser, a day nurse who witnessed the Divine Manifestation: "An incredible, booming voice said to Timmy, 'I am the Lord thy God, who created the rivers and the mountains, the heavens and the earth, the sun and the moon and the stars. Before Me sits My beloved child, whose faith is that of the mustard seed from which grows mighty and powerful things. My child, Timmy Yu, I say unto you thus: I have heard your prayers, and now I shall answer them. No, you cannot get out of your wheelchair. Not ever."
That was actually a totally non-cynical statement.
Giving the hoi polloi a direct connection to their legislatures is a cool idea, and I think that the American populace would have a less...adverserial relationship with their elected officials if they were allowed to give their opinions on legislation to their faces instead of the comment boards of a newsite.
It's very Athenian, even, but with the women and non-land owners being able to participate. I like it.
I try not to waste my cynicism in situations where people are working efficiently and (presumably) honestly for the greater good. Else I won't have any vitriol when the really bad stuff happens.

idk it came across as super-sarcastic to me. Sorry.
I really hate the notion that people who prefer the "nice" parts of the Bible are just weak and not really Christian.
I want to feel good about my religion. I don't understand why that's a problem.
the people who only follow the nice parts of the bible (read: the gospels) are called "actually Christians". The people who get hung up on minor, obtuse, poorly-translated passages in Leviticus (an Old Testament book mind) are called "douchebags".
There has been a concerted movement in the past 100 years or so to convert Christianity into a vehicle for social conservatism rather than what it actually is (merely a profession of belief of the divinity of Ieshua barIoseph, better known as Jesus Christ).
The Old Testament, by and large, is (depending on what part you're reading) a collection of secular law, a historical record (albeit a flawed one, but still impressively thorough for the era it was written in), a songbook, or a prayer and curse index. Literally all of the core beliefs of christianity are contained in the new testament.
I believe that Mo's right in that most of Leviticus and half of Deuteronomy was situational and/or time-sensitive, and should be sacked. However, I think the Old Testament's important for a Christian. Outside of the Gospels and Acts (and Philemon, I guess), there's not a lot of examples of Christians doing stuff. The Old Testament shows more of God's people in action, and I think that's important for a Christian. And learning about your religious history is always ~fun~. Granted, copying Samson or David's massive killing streaks would be unadvised.

This is why I'm of the opinion that the new testament should include far more Acts (there are way more than what's in there in existence). Early Christianity and early Judaism are very dissimilar.
How about we have both acts of old Judaism and early Christianity. I'd love to learn more about Linus, the second Pope. Also, more about Ezra.
Not a lot is known about Linus (there's even some question as to whether or not he can really be called a Pope proper. This is a larger question about all the early Bishops of Rome, including Peter himself.) Many of the other early Popes on the other hand, were quite interesting people.
it should be noted that the first person to ever use the title "Pope" was one of the Coptic Popes in Alexandria on the See of St. Mark (offhand I don't recall which one though).
The Old Testament is interesting, certainly. But I question the relevance of the vast majority of it.
What is currently considered the biblical canon (the new testament, at any rate) is the product of a handful of councils held by a Byzantine emperor who thought a unified church hierarchy was more important than a true and honest picture of the faith. This is one of the reasons we still struggle to learn about it today.
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
Ok this vid helps a lot because I didn't know what to do and I kept losing to this thing, and this is really early in the game too. It is hard to believe, but most of the game happens after this boss, not before it, so there is a lot I have yet to play here. :D btw Hellsinker is a headache, but the best kind of headache.
Comments
third stage boss fight is one of my favorites in a long time. I will probably never get farther than that because I suck at video games but oh well.
anyway I have to pack this up now. I'll see y'all when I get home.

This game still scares me but I want to learn how to be better at it.

I never really liked XKCD's humor making fun of people with obscure interests while being a thing with obscure interests.
Black Hat guy cutting off hands for acting smug when XKCD is itself insufferably smug.

Especially the one about Papyrus, that one's simply sadistic.

Like I said, we need both.
