Huh. The fact that this nullified the collections of anyone playing that game before Zynga got it reminds me of the Xbox One.
And that wouldn't fly in Magic either. I mean, there's Standard, which forces you to use the most recent sets, but that's just tournament play. Casual gamers (i.e. a good lot of Magic players) would tear that to pieces.

This is definitely a discussion for another thread- but two years ago, I was one of their biggest followers. Two years later, something happened-
1. I realised it was absolute bollocks
2. I realised that the site was actually promoting an absolute severance of development as a human being. I have grown up very fast since leaving their presence and watching their old stuff is horribly cringeworthy.
Also learnt a few horrible things about the people involved but again, another story entirely.
And I don't really know what to say to that so I'm just all O_o

1 is an opinion and 2 is a personal experience so it is not really a claim. You also don't look as good if you seem defensive. If you want this person to elaborate, you can ask what they don't like about the series. This is an invitation to hear themselves talk and will seem less like an argument. :)
Bleh, I don't feel like it. The closest thing I have to a "trigger" (at least in the butchered Tumblr sense) is people criticizing things I like. It actually makes me really uncomfortable and often makes it difficult for me to do anything else for a little while.
Ask him to talk to you about it with him over PM or something. I get the feeling that, if anything, his issues lie more with certain elements of the fandom and his own embarrassment with his participation in them than with anything else. As for "horrible things," I would have to hear who he was referring to and what the accusations were to say whether or not he was blowing smoke or exaggerating.
The people who say that about the early days of TGWTG seem to have the same mentality as the people on YouTube who complain about 240p -- they don't bother to check the dates. The oldest stuff on TGWTG goes back to 2007-2008; HD cameras were expensive then, and proper lighting and such was often an afterthought.
@Lee: Well, there are other reasons to dislike the work of many of the site's contributors. Some of it is professional but exceedingly formulaic and predictable; other times the writing simply falls flat in trying too hard, or is simply horribly inconsistent. I could go into a whole exegesis on my problems with Linkara's stuff, but that would be giving the whole matter more effort than it is worth.
This is not to say that there are not contributors to the site that I like; there are several of whom that I quite enjoy. I must also hasten to add that I find the people that actively loathe the site exceedingly tiresome and annoying. But that does not change the fact that there are legitimate reasons not to like TGWTG.
