man, I was reading a magazine for writers today, depressing as hell
What about it was depressing?
Well, first of all, stuff like "it's hard to get published because there's less and less getting published because the publishers are making less and less money and even if you do get published no one will care so most of you will never get anywhere with this"
And then, as if to rub it in, a whole slew of ads in the back for books by authors I've never ever heard of and neither have you

people act like more "practical" careers are somehow more doable than this, which bothers me.
Always remember, becoming a doctor is both harder and more stressful.
I think the observed ease for practical careers, as opposed to artistic careers, is that there's a clear path to follow. If you want to be a doctor, you go to college for four years, take incredibly difficult classes designed to weed out the weaklings, pass the MCAT, go to med school, and then you're treating patients at the young, young age of 26.
While with an artist or a musician, you have to tinker with everything until you find something that'll earn money, and often find a secondary job that you hate but need to survive, and who knows how long it'll be until you can make a living off of what you love
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
I'd steer clear of direction puns for the name though, for fear of people taking them as political metaphors
weird thing: I accidentally wrote "directoon" instead of direction and now it's making me think of what Raymanian traffic would be like
I had the same thought re: politics
As for the second part: I wonder if Rayman would be good at directing traffic. Would having your limbs floating detached from your body make your signals easier or harder to understand?
And as part of our responsibility as members of the internet network, we have to realize that there are people whom we will never meet who, nonetheless, have families and friends and hopes and dreams, just like we do.

I knew right away...
Hey, for once I'm actually in the loop! Go Centie!

(2:04:29 AM) twitter.com: thelindsayellis: I feel like I am way way way way (way) way more judgmental on books than movies. Which is kinda backerds, since I studied film (twice).
(2:06:57 AM) twitter.com: thelindsayellis: But I also feel less bad about shitting on bad movies, since it's a group effort, as opposed to books which (usually) aren't.
Ugh, she's kinda right
Is my desire to write a blog snarking at bad books too mean-spirited?

also i need to figure out why all those timestamps are an hour off
So Random Access Memories has been out for 2 days but I still haven't downloaded or listened to it yet
At this rate I feel like I should just wait for my CD to get here and then listen to it, as old-fashioned as that may make me. I've already decided that listening to it on Spotify would be a sin due to the scourge of advertising.
And so my disproportionate obsession with French things continues. #daftpunk

Like if somebody told me this crap 10 years from now I'd think they were just making it up
I guarantee you, if this were a Comedy Central cartoon, it would still be on
Alas, it was a live-action ABC sitcom...if only this had been placed into the inaugural Laugh On lineup instead of Hank
Those were the days.
Things have to be "social" in order to be relevant to the masses :P

It's OK Tre, I didn't know until the other day either.

No, no more loops. you can have those half-mad dogs for all I care now, you never tried when it came to me anyways.
Also I feel obligated to draw Ray as a traffic guard because of CA's comment. More on that front tomorrow, I suppose.
I think my favorite part of Khanate's music is how they use the perception of space in a recording.
