>referring to African-Americans as "the urban market"
this is what "urban market" and "urban demographic" mean.
it's also why pretty much every black musician who isn't Jimi Hendrix gets put in the "Urban" section at shitty record stores. Including say, Santigold.

I know that's what it means
I don't like it because it makes me think of ghettos and that's probably the origin >_>
To be honest I don't think I fully understood it (and boy, is it hard to understand) but I think that's what makes it cool. It feels like the SBAHJ of television, but slightly less eye searing.
It's also a hell of a lot better than Xavier. I attempted that one... it wasn't the same.
Xavier is one of several shows I watched during my "high school freshman" period where I would frequently stay up stupid late and watch random TV shows at low volume.
Other favorites were indie channel pickup anime Speed Grapher and Witchblade.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Heh, me watching ozMo ended up happening because I stayed up till like 3 am one time last summer with Adult Swim on the TV, so I guess the phenomenon continued with me. "Adventure Mouse" was on and I liked what I saw. (Still one of my favorites, that one.)
I haven't seen or heard of Speed Grapher but my dad read the comics and watched both TV versions of Witchblade. What I saw of the anime was pretty good.

I wish I had a kitty cat to hold and pet right now...and he'd purr...

Stormy did this thing where he would purr so hard that he sounded like a pickup truck idling

Is "indie channel" IFC? They used to run anime before they decided to become "Comedy Central for hipsters/Millennials"

it was either them, sundance, or Current, I forget which.
I just watched the "Tomorrow Hill" scene from Smooth Moves for the first time since my brother played it years ago. He left in early 2009, and it turns out the game itself came out in 2007.
Has it really been that long? I guess it has, since I associate the song from that level (and "Pollyanna (I Believe in You)" from MOTHER) with my early days on TVT, roughly late 2008-early 2009.

The term "Millennials" is really starting to grate on me, somehow

Probably because it's almost always used in a condescending way to imply that we're an entitled and spoiled generation for wanting a world that is not broken on several fundamental levels.
I prefer the old "Children of the Millennium" personally, but it's too flashy for everyday use.

I don't really listen to her music so I wouldn't know what genre she falls into.
I'm pretty willing to take her word on being indie rock, but a lot of other people are less so.
the answer to my question is yes.
well I dunno he has Youtube videos.
only like four of em but yeah.
he's probably better known for voicing Parappa The Rapper.
Tre likes it.
I have never seen it but find its overbearing surrealism intriguing in concept.

Hell, everyone on it is fantastic.

I recall the anime being good but nowadays I would probably find it overly fanservicey.
Speed Grapher is only worth a watch if you have a strong stomach, and are able to tolerate its rather heavy-handed moralizing.
That said I still enjoyed that series more than I thought I would.
I also saw Gurren Lagann and Gundam 00 somewhat later in that same stretch of time. Both ran on SyFy as I recall.
Code Geass was in there too. Loved the first season but R2 was more hit-and-miss.
I think "train-wreck" might be a strong word, but the plot takes a backseat to the moralizing.
I know what happens (I have never cared about spoilers), but still.
