AU: These days, if people want a computer to show them the weather, there's several computers they can choose from (including the set-top box itself, in a lot of cases), not just TWC. Back in 1985 when we first got cable, there wasn't any way to get the weather on-demand unless you had a way of listening to the NOAA feed on 162 MHz (uncommon), or you turned on the TV or the normal radio and hoped for the best.
All of which is why TWC seems to think it's Discovery now. :P
Also, I finally put my G5 back together and Linux is doing well on it, though I have to admit that using Linux on a late-model PowerPC isn't much different from using it on, well, pretty much any Intel machine made since ACPI became a thing.

I knew that, but I still miss Landmark-era TWC. They knew how to program a good mix of information and entertainment, unlike NBCU, who wants to flood the channel with said entertainment.
Oh, I see. And yeah, I remember when "Storm Stories" and such were like the filler shows on MSNBC -- they ran when absolutely nothing else was going on and the network had to kill time between a shift or something. Now I understand it's actually scheduled? Wow. Did they get their management from the TV Guide Channel or something.
