My wife likes Pinkie Pie because she's insane. I also had to explain that despite the fact that Luna is nice enough, Nightmare Moon is in-fact a power hungry tyrant who cares not for the well being of others and that her being banished for 1,000 years was likely a sad necessity.
Though it is fascinating that her initial reaction is one of sympathy towards Luna.

Well, I mean, one episode already got pulled for being "violent", and this was before an episode that showed the graphic murder of a nurse.
Did NBC itself pull an episode?
I know KSL-TV in Salt Lake City, a notoriously conservative affiliate, dropped the show outright after viewer complaints (KSL is owned by Bonneville International, the commercial media arm of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), which sent it to the CW affiliate there, KUCW (which also airs fellow KSL reject Saturday Night Live).
KSL-TV has been an NBC affiliate since 1995 (before that, they were a CBS affiliate), and has a history of pre-empting network programming that does not agree with the owners' values.
24 is not that bad a number. I mean, it's fifteen plus three plus six. That's pretty cool. Besides, I never liked the powers of two like other people seem to do. 32, 64, 128? I just don't care too much for them.

Pre-emptions of network programming on moral grounds is rarely done, and, indeed, TV stations rarely pre-empt network programming for anything but local news emergencies nowadays.

There were times in the past when KMGH would pre-empt ABC shows from Billy Graham but this only happened once in a blue moon.
I think around Christmas, KUSA pre-empts NBC programming for local Christmas events (such as the lights being lit on the Denver Municipal Building and the Parade of Lights).
KCNC is owned by CBS, and I don't remember them ever pre-empting network programming. KDVR doesn't seem to pre-empt Fox programming either, and KWGN doesn't do the same with CW programming (if KDVR needs to pre-empt anything, maybe they kick Fox shows over to KWGN; KWGN is KDVR's LMA partner now. I know KUSA moves newscasts to KTVD when NBC Sports programming prevents them from airing on KUSA.)
