  • Yeah, that's in the neighbourhood of $20 for the shirt alone...

£11 is close to $20? has the pound really recovered that much? i remember when it was like $2 to £1 but that was before high finance ruined everything

I thought that you said £13 before postage rather than after, which would be at least $20, but I was mistaken. £11 is about, say, $16-17?
  • £13 after postage.

in other news: i have a facemask on. this is an intriguing experience.

I don't know if anyone's around right now who would remember this, but...you know those broken road signs that were our "GAY" running gag?

They're finally being replaced, along with all the other signs through that stretch. So far only one of the gantries has had its sign replaced, but they're actively installing supports for the newer signs for all of them...

So there's this cab company in town that uses old Crown Victoria Police Interceptors

Which, you know, no big deal, cheap and reliable cars

But they don't even bother to repaint them first

So you'll see a white taxi running around with the labelscar of a police badge on the side and the name of the cab company hastily lettered onto the side

    It's very unprofessional-looking
  • THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS
CA: That happens a lot here, too; while I don't think I've seen a cab with a labelscar here, I've definitely seen a few old cabs that were obviously Prince William County Police cars at some point.

It's amusing at times, because everyone sees a white Crown Vic ahead and instinctively slows down, only to speed up again once you get up to it and see it's just a cab.

It'll be weird once we start seeing retired police Chargers and Caprices on the road...

Well duh. People don't spend thousands of dollars on surgery so they can look like the wrong gender.

My desire to buy WJLA-TV from Allbritton made me think of it having used Stephen Arnold Music's Metropolis at one point

And it was commissioned by WFLA-TV in Tampa, now I'm thinking of how I actually heard Metropolis on that station in 2005

^^ Well, you can't do much with them in the way that you can hands. They are optimum for running and leaping, but not for manual dexterity.

^ Paws are good for that, too.

The comparison makes some sense, they're both popular electronic musicians who work in traditionally very un-pop genres.

Also, like I said the other day, I don't care much for Skrillex's original compositions, but he's a decent DJ.

  • he's a decent DJ.
    ....

you are aware that this dude is notorious for botching mixes, stopping mid-track to say things over the PA, switching genres in a nonsensical manner, spamming FX and completely failing to beatmatch properly right
  • unless he's improved radically over the past 4 months

You say this like half the DJs in existence don't do it.

I saw a vid of him doing a set and it seemed alright to me, but I was also tired at the time so idk.

Maybe I was just blinded by the fact that he doesn't use the same two dozen songs like a few widely-acclaimed hip-hop DJs tend to do nowadays.
