So I'm watching an episode of Traffic Cops on YouTube (thanks to a long chain of "related video" links starting with something about traffic signals) and the cops pulled some guy over because they saw him "steal" items that someone had left out for garbage collection.
That's illegal in the UK? That seems very weird. In most of the US, items left at the curb for collection are considered "abandoned property" (since the owner has no intention of keeping or retrieving them) and thus legally become the property of anybody who takes them.

One thing I noticed while reading Sherlock Holmes and such things: They always talk about people being "in" streets instead of "on" streets. "We caught up with him in William Street" (not a real quote) or some such thing.
Is that an old-timey thing or a Commonwealth English thing? Because to me, saying someone was "in William Street" implies that they're standing in the traveled way; if someone was just hanging out along that street, on the sidewalk or whatever, I'd say they were "on William Street."

^^^^ That is a fantastic cover. The poppy melody is perfectly preserved, and the heavy guitars really add something to it. The band in general is pretty cool BOC-esque doom metal as well.
