why does every 90s boom-bap album have a "women are sneaky and evil" song.
What exactly is "boom-bap" hip-hop? I mean, I've heard the term used a lot and I have a vague idea of what it refers to in theory, but what does it actually mean?
a particular type of 90s "golden era" rap music with breakbeat-centric beats, that often had a jazzy feel to them if they didn't just straight up sample jazz songs (and they often did), and a lyricism/storytelling-focused approach to the actual rapping. It's kind of a hard style to describe accurately. That Big L album I embedded earlier is a really good example of it (even if one of the songs features 2Pac who isn't boom bap in the slightest).
Hardcore rap is pretty similar but they're not quite the same thing, though they overlap (for example, Mobb Deep's The Infamous is kinda both).
There's been a kind of revival of it lately but I don't really like the revival stuff since I feel it superficially replicates much of the music's aesthetic without actually having the originality (or in many cases, the skill) that made it successful.
You should listen to that Big L album regardless btw. What's been done to his legacy by an entire generation of hollow shout-outs and appropriations is tragic, but L himself is just a really good rapper.

I am caught between attempting to discuss the psyche of human beings as being complex enough to be capable of being damaged in the artistic sense as to justify the context of the phrase "tragic"(in light of recent Boston events) and wondering if perhaps I'm not just overreacting to a simple word use because of the recent tragedy.
So I've been a habitual nail-biter for over ten years but I just stopped last month and my mom told me to cut my nails today.
I cut them down to the bottom like before, and holy crap, not having any is so unsatisfying. It's like, I just had one of those "how did I ever live like this?" moments.

Yeah, having my nails freshly cut to the hilt by clippers always makes me feel weird for a couple of days afterwards.
I never really bit my nails, however, even as a kid. I do agree with Srendi that having just one nail shorter than the others is an annoying feeling though.
You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
On the one hand, long nails are useful for prying things.
On the other hand, long nails make me terrified that I'll injure them.

I really have no idea how to respond to this.
I'm genuinely offended that you went there.
She wasn't trying to say that you were petty. It's about how the word is used in general and how one's nerves can become a bit raw after something that awful happens.
Thoughts connect to thoughts, not always in nice ways.
And they can, will, shall, could, would and should. That doesn't make the association any less jarring in certain contexts. It's sort of like saying that an inconsiderate and manipulative coworker is "a horrible person" on the heels of a prominent official being arrested for child prostitution. The scale is different, yet to think that words can mean both things is strange.
More people have said that and been killed than there are thorium decay products.
Well, "bad" can be Kim Jong Un sending entire families to forced labor camps to support the economy until they starve and die, or "bad" can be my internet connection being unstable. Adjectives are very versatile. :)

language being vague is not something I have control over.
It just comes from a childhood of trying to examine the meaning of words and their part in the big scheme of things, I'm sorry if you were offended Mojave, I did not mean to cause you anger or guilt with my post.

What is your opinion on the two Spicy McChicken sandwiches combo?
haven't tried them.
I'm a really picky eater, and the only thing I eat at McDonald's anymore is the fries. They got rid of the chicken selects, though they're apparently getting the chicken McBites back soon which is good

I see.
I thought it was a ridiculous deal at first because I was comparing it to the price of a Big Mac meal (my usual order). But then I remembered that it's a dollar menu item. Derp.
I had one today, but I didn't like it as much as last time. I think it had too much mayonnaise.

I have lately felt a desire to ditch the US of A as well, but doing so will be beyond my means for at least another decade or two. So I don't know if my opinion on that will change or not.
But also for all those other reasons I usually state for wanting to leave the US.
I might be moving to San Francisco in the next couple of years actually, for reasons that should be fairly obvious. We'll see how the chips fall when it's time for them to fall.
Guess people responded better to small chicken pieces rather than large ones. They never took the chicken McBites off of the menu here, strangely enough. Maybe the south really loved 'em.

It would be funny if we ended up swapping countries.
#trashheap meetup has to happen at least once, though (totally serious)

The fish ones aren't bad but they make me feel like I should be eating the cod from one of our local markets instead, it's infinitely better there.
Also I don't know if I can get through a school week without at least one McMuffin / coffee combo anymore because apparently I like my caffeine high and my cholesterol higher.

You have a point there. I'm kind of biased here because my family's a stickler for those rules (except my mom and me).

Also, Anonus, you and I should totally move to Toronto.
Fair enough, I guess.

ayep.
It's almost entirely Scott Pilgrim's fault.
News to me. Strange, I go to McDo nearly daily, so I should've known by now.
McNuggets are chicken nuggets
Selects were chicken tenders
I don't see what's hard to understand.
Nationwide to make way for the return of the McBites in May, yep.He has like no nipples. It's distracting from his rugged otherwise-attractiveness.

I love good cosplays! Jin (the character on the left) looks unusually feminine in this one.
