Sometimes I feel weird for genuinely enjoying MLP:FIM instead of just having gotten caught up in the phenomenon. (I did get caught up in the phenomenon, mind you, but I actually like the show too.)
Then I realize that it's not particularly out of character for me, since I've always had a sort of preference for things aimed at children. If I hadn't been obsessing over ponies I'd have been obsessing over The Powerpuff Girls or something similar.
But then I'm not sure that makes it any better. I worry that preferring children's media to "grown-up" media means I'm developmentally stunted or something. But it's like...I like things my imagination can run away with. It's fun to sit around and speculate about where Celestia came from or daydream about flying through Cloudsdale as a pegasus...
Central, I feel like this is one of the conversation loops that people sometimes find themselves in. So let me get out this check-list of things to knock off that can help ease your mind.

My worry was, basically, that my inability to get "hooked" by works targeted at grown-ups the same way I do ones targeted as kids means I'm not intellectually mature enough to appreciate anything but "mind candy". Or something like that, I don't know.
Upon further thought, though, it occurs to me that I only really have that preference when it comes to movies and TV. I have no problem reading books or webcomics targeted at people my age. Hell, right now I've still got something of an obsession with Sherlock Holmes; those aren't children's books.
So basically, that entire rant was unfounded anyway. Go me!
And you're right, I suppose Gravity Falls is my new big thing right now. It doesn't quite feel the same as MLP did two years ago, but I realize that's because quite a lot of the good feelings from back then were because, much like Twilight Sparkle, I was really discovering friendship for the first time as I found a companion in AU.

You know what I don't understand? The purple gradient effect on Princess Cadance's wings.
I guess it's supposed to make her wings match her mane, but any time she has her wings open it's just kinda distracting.

I was thinking earlier about how friggin' awesome the existence of Friendship is Magic is. Think about it: a little girl watches the original My Little Pony cartoons and lets her imagination run away with it, then when she grows up she gets the chance to completely revamp the franchise based on her own vision of the characters and the world they live in.
And who knows? Maybe Faust's MLP will inspire some little girl who'll grow up to be the showrunner of the My Little Pony of the 2030s or something.

Tre is a nickname given to me the day before I was born and the name I go by IRL. Lyle Terry is an anagram of "Tre L[bleep]." Trevor is just a name I picked because it sounds cool and has Tre in it.
