Pretty much every single facet of Wizard society in the Harry Potter books is an anachronism so what I want to know is how are they socially advanced enough to know that segregation based on ethnicity is totally uncool but still think that ballpoint pens are stupid
There’s a lot about the universe of the Harry Potter books that is infuriatingly stupid and I know they’re just books but so much of the characterization and plot develops around these rules that Rowling so weakly and haphazardly establishes that one can’t help but start trying to sift through it all
Like, what is the general metric for common decency in the Wizard world because this is a society where someone can literally scoff at the idea of dying in a car crash as if to suggest wizards have a contingency for that sort of thing that they just don’t feel like sharing with muggles
There’s also a complete absence of consent for pretty much every aspect of daily life. At any moment someone can jinx you and rob your body of its autonomy or make slugs sprout from your face or entirely rewrite your memory and this behaviour is both encouraged and enabled in the education system and so long as it’s not within view of people who are incapable of doing the same thing there is literally no recourse for that kind of shit
The closest thing to recourse at all is getting shipped off to what is essentially the Boss Level Alcatraz where demons physically feed on your happiness which is a bit of an overkill for pretty much everything Mundungus Fletcher gets away with
Why wasn’t Hermione secretly a murderous misanthrope having the worldview she had and being lucid to this entirely offensive dichotomy
Why do people say they wish they lived in the world of these books? Don’t wish that. This is a horrible horrible awful place where existence is suffering and also someone might turn your snot into aggressive bats

Hagrid "scoffs at a car crash" because Vernon and Petunia lied to Harry by saying his parents died in a car crash when really they were killed by Voldemort.
The world of Harry Potter actually is very frightening and full of dark magic. :)

I wear a hat. I wear the same jacket I've worn since kindergarten. I lose every argument that I get in. I am fascinated by history. I play with legos. I haven't grown up. I will never grow up. I cry for hours over squished ants and give them proper burials. I debate the colors of the numbers (one is yellow, two is red, three is green, four is blue) and whether the color green could beat the color orange in a fight. I sleep with a teddy bear. I write telletubbies fan-fiction.
I am the confused idealist, constantly striving to learn about life. I don't want to be understanding, for I would lose so much wonder. I don't want to be Aliroz The Understanding. I am Aliroz The Confused.
Real Talk though: I am impressed with how completely believable, yet utterly despicable she is.
Dolores Umbridge, both in book and film versions, is one of the best portrayals of a very particular kind of person. I have met people like her only once or twice, and they legitimately scare me.
^ Because s/he is simply the most fabulous and fearsome of beasts. Also cute. So cute. Probably has a really low purr and a really high-pitched mewl, because that would be perfect.

In other news, I am society's garbage. This is why I am alone all day every day, and why I have no friends, and why I don't talk to anyone, and why no one knows me, and why I have nothing to do ever, and why I am ugly and unsociable. Unless I go on the internet stare at a screen and type little messages to people I will probably never meet. -_-

omg this is why capitalism has inheritance. So garbage can continue to fill suburbs and stimulate the economy via the cost of living while doing no labor, and it is not a worry because garbage will die without reproducing. (thanks, Darwin! :D )

A one point I would have sold my soul to Satan so I could be beautiful. Now my price is just a little higher. Am I too nice to belong to Satan? I probably just think I am.

Next poster is me. Only me and none of YOUUUUUUUUU unless YOUUUUUUUUUU happens to be imi, or my computer, or Cowboy Bebop at his computer, or Obama, or a llama, or your mama, or a potato, or a mosquito, or my libido, or CLOUD/SEPHIROTH on a STICK with CHOCOLATE SPRINKLES

So....basically, Potterverse appeals to the god-king/control freak/sociopath inside of us.
Not that I'm using 'us' in a way that describes me. Potter's not one of my fandoms.

What do you think of Delicate Cycle?
I don't know what to make of it.
I like Aesop Rock but I really don't care for Kimya Dawson's work.
so my feelings on the entire Uncluded project are pretty mixed. I'm more hyped for the second Hail Mary Mallon album.

They would have been fine songs on their own, but they don't mesh well together, y'know?
Kimya and Aesop both have incredibly cryptic lyric styles but they're totally different.
the song makes sense to me, but yeah.
