  • Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
Sometimes I wonder why theistic evolution isn't more popular.

Part of that may be because people consider anything theistic to be creationist, but maybe another part of it is because the mindset that you have to be on one end or the other is more ingrained in culture than I thought. Then again, maybe it's just past my bedtime and I'm trying to talk about things I have little understanding of.

Whelp, Gunplay is facing life in prison.

    Weren't the charges dropped today?
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
Because if God's method of creating life is millions of years of death and struggle, then He's even more of a sadist than we feared

    actually apparently they were.

I didn't know that it was ever a thing that was happening until today though. Mostly because I don't care about Maybach Music.

i attended two primary schools, both Christian, one expressly so.  Both had library books referencing evolution and i remember the subject coming up in class without any controversy arising from that.

As far as i'm aware, theism and evolution are compatible and simultaneous belief in both is quite commonplace, at least over here.

Is it not popular where you are from?

Most people think "God made atoms" or "We are God's atoms" or whatever.

That's good to know. I will admit I was going more by US standards, which is where most of the evolution vs. creation kerfluffle is centered.

Anyhow, I should probably go to bed so I don't pass out in Cell Bio lab tomorrow. Don't want to miss out on sugary snacks.

i tend to just think of creationism as a myth.

Which is heretical, probably, but the evidence is just too much against it for me to believe in it.

    Good night, Professor.

Viani: I actually don't know if it's popular around where I live. I just don't hear about it much as an option whenever these discussions come up.

a8: I don't believe in creationism, either, to be honest.

I may have mentioned this before, but I come from a Catholic family (though I've never really been invested in the faith myself). As I recall, the church's current official stance on this matter is theistic evolution.

The "you have to be on one side or the other" mentality does seem to be stronger in the U.S. than elsewhere.

Whoo, I'm back from a long-needed five-hour nap. My head no longer hurts, and I'm no longer convinced that my computer is trying to drive me insane.

    Well, not with sound, anyway.

Actually, this mix is excellent so far.

Although i have no idea what it's based on.  A JRPG?
  • Not a hybrid rabbit-skink spirit
Yes, Persona 3 to be exact

That's the final battle music, which in itself is a remix of the Velvet Room theme, which is just really cool

    Nice.

I have a half-written post here in which I pretend to be a Social Justice Pegasus and rant about the horse face mask meme and how it glorifies the human oppression of the equine race.

I was gonna post it on IJBM, but (a) it's not as funny as I'd have liked, and (b) I feel like I'd be pushing my luck, somehow.

    Pushing your luck?

    At least I don't have Comcast...yet. >_>

  • Trivializing rape has some pretty tangible and terrible effects too: just recently, a girl at my undergraduate alma mater is possibly facing expulsion for actually trying to get her rapist charged with anything.  While any individual terrible song may not contribute to this, the sum total of all these things does.

  • Hey, let's just all leave our jobs and become combination gangsters.

We can wear fedoras and oversized jerseys while driving in old Ford convertibles. We can shoot Berettas at our competition and tommy guns at the police.

This is an improvement people. This is an improvement on our miserable lives.

Fedoras were a perfectly good hat before dickheads went and ruined them.

However i don't think i would like to be involved in organized crime.

    As I said elsewhere:

Stuff like this just goes to reaffirm my belief that the biggest threat to our freedom comes not from the government, but from corporations that will use their power to crush anything that comes between them and the almighty dollar.

They have to catch you before they can do anything.

So most likely uploaders will just be more careful when naming files.

    Can't disagree with this.

Although governments often support corporations, or at least tolerate them when they do terrible things.
