I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
I admit, as awful as that is the mental image of George W. Bush flying a submarine around New York (minus the burning, collapsing Twin Towers) blowing up fighter jets is amusing

I think I'm alone now. :\
Oh well, time to ramble about my parking lot project: the need for fire lanes outside a building the size of a former big-box store kinda makes adding a pick-up drop-off area difficult. Because, you know, naturally you'd want to pick people up and drop them off at the curb in front of the building, but you can't have people idling in the fire lane.

I actually went and looked up the relevant codes for this state, and it seems like it doesn't matter whether the building is commercial or an educational institution, just whether or not it's within 150 feet of a public road. (It's not, thanks to the massive Kmart parking lot.)
Feeling kind of everything is dumb, trying to drown it in 1980s-2000s pop which is possibly not a wise strategy.
But all the stuff about the CAS and Baauer's behaviour and corporate attempts to shut down the competition is pissing me off. Like, the Internet is only just opening up to many people who previously didn't have access, but what could have been a golden age of free communication and information for the whole world is instead manifesting all the same ugly corporatism and social elitism that exists in meatspace. The system doesn't interact, it assimilates. i don't know why i ever thought this would be any different.
With the protests against SOPA and PIPA, it felt like we might actually stand a chance of resisting stuff, but we all know that we will just retreat into increasingly small, increasingly irrelevant online communities, where we will grumble and shake our fists and reminisce fondly about the good old days at the start of the century as the Internet becomes just another extension of the homogenizing, thought-suppressing corporate machine.
And everyone else already realized this, but i am naïve and trusting and this upsets me.
And between conservatives who care more for capitalist structures than Christ and liberals who care about nothing except mindless hedonism, we've created a culture that is completely incapable of giving a shit about any of this.

"Show Desktop" button in Windows 7 (at the far right):
"Show Desktop" button in Windows 8 (same place):
HOW WOULD ANYBODY KNOW THAT'S THERE? There's nothing at all to indicate that it's a clickable object and not just a margin to the right of the clock. The only way you would know that is if (a) you're already familiar with Windows 7 (not a given; I know plenty of people who still use XP) or (b) you discover it completely by accident.
wait, that's the show desktop button?
hahaha oh man
I had no idea. I thought they took that shit out of Windows
I've found that 90% of the time, buying used games from Amazon or other sites is cheaper than buying them from stores, even with P&P added. The only exceptions I can think of are really rare games like Persona 2 for the PS, or White Knight Chronicles 2, for some odd reason.
Regular ignorant and liberal seems more likely though.
It could be, but I thought a large chunk of Palestine was actually Christian. Also, doting on Islam (the world's second largest and arguably most misogynistic/intolerant religion) while criticizing western culture for its own failings in regards to religion and minority rights, at least from my viewpoint, has been going on for a while now.
i do think there is definitely a mindset that thinks the West can do no wrong re:Islamic countries because apparently two wrongs make a right, and i think there are people who rightly oppose this mindset.
But a lot of people are pretty inconsistent about this, and i'd definitely say the West gets held to a stricter standard than elsewhere, much of the time. Also i think sometimes people do things to shock, without really thinking the implications through.
In any case, i'd imagine most Muslims would be pretty offended by the notion of killing Jesus again seeing as He's one of their most important prophets.

Despite their claims to the contrary, most vocal anti-religion/atheists are completely ignorant when it comes to actual religions. From that point of view, I wouldn't consider this a failing -- for example, I'm against a lot of movements and philosophies (such as Scientology and the Moonies), why the hell would I go read any of their respective literature?
But yeah, you're right. If this is how they're trying to curry favor (and I wouldn't be surprised if it is) then they're doing it wrong
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
(meekly raises hand) Me... sometimes...
Though more often than not, I click it by accident.
Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
If it's anything like the old show desktop button, it's what you use to get to the desktop when some asshole app (or its installation) doesn't want to get out of your face
i get so angry sometimes i just punch plankton --Klinotaxis
Regarding Windows 8:
Alt-tabbing or Windows button-tabbing can get you to the desktop.
Regarding Islam and Jesus:
The Muslims are down with the J-man. He's considered a prophet, not a divine son, but he's still monumentally important to the religion.
Just a heads up, if Jesus came back, Muslims would be amoung the last people to do him harm as, like Christianity, this means it's Judgement day bitches, and time to be on your best behavior.
So unless that person's version of Islam is SO warped he's going completely against scripture, probably not a Muslim.

i don't know if i've ever seen fire lanes outside a school building, regardless of size.
