and while i may not be depressing i most certainly am depressed

    :(

I wish I could help with that but I'm still sorting that out myself.

i'll learn to manage it in time hopefully
    :(

    *Hug*

I know the feeling very well. I've been more or less constantly depressed for the past 8 months.  If you need some one to talk to, feel free shoot me a PM.

    We lost the skyline
We stepped right off the map
    Drifted into blank space
    And let the clocks relapse

    We laughed the rain down
    Slow burn on the lawn
    Ghosts across the delta
    Swallowed up the storm
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”

I'm hesitant to call it chronic, honestly.

Just cuz like, I don't want to be one of those people who self-diagnoses and whatnot.

I understand. But even being severely depressed for "just a little while" is amazingly horrible to live through. Wanting to die on and off for a few days is still wanting to die. It is pure torment.

    yeah.

    well

    I dunno. I usually don't want to die, but I dunno w/e

really life doesn't get better than that
    YES!
  • I think if I start rapping I will take King K'iud as my stage name while still being Mojave Music behind the boards.

This presents the problem of the song on my soundcloud currently attributed to KK but oh well.

Eh, I would say a fair mix of some of the classics and some modern alternative stuff. Grandmaster Flash, Run-DMC, Wu-Tang Clan, De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, The Pharcyde, NWA - Beastie Boys, Cannibal Ox, Dälek, cLOUDDEAD, DJ Shadow, Edan, OutKast, Kendrick Lamar.

Probably missed a few (from my personal collection I mean - I know there's still a couple gaps)

    Just speaking from personal experience.

It wasn't fun. It really wasn't fun.

CONSIDER PICKING UP MUSIC FROM THE FOLLOWING PEEPS:

    • Aesop Rock
    • El-P
    • Himanshu "Heems" Suri (formerly of Das Racist, but he's better on his own)
    • Ab-Soul
    • ScHoolboy Q

also Kendrick Lamar is pretty mainstream but good kid mA.A.d city was such a great album regardless.

  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    It's OK. I'm fine now.

I also second many of those recommendations.
  • Oh, I actually do have some Aesop Rock and El-P stuff around - so there ya go.

Will check the other three out
  • I will annotate the Heems recommendation with "only if you have a thick skin".

We can do anything if we do it together.
It occurs to me I have never really detailed my tastes for most of you guys. My main genres seem to be power-pop/art-pop, 1980s/1990s alternative, and 1970s hard rock/stoner metal. A rough cross selection of my favourite artists includes Guided By Voices, Deerhoof, Yes, Big Black/Shellac, Built To Spill, The Kinks, Elvis Costello, Wire and King Crimson. I do dip into the experimental well from time to time as well, with one of the main culprits being the aforementioned wonky dissonant guitar music, so we should get along decently.

On another note, I have to admit that you guys have already introduced me to some pretty cool stuff, and I hope that this can continue.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^^ Not quite in the realm of hip-hop, but I would also strongly recommend that you seek out The Bug's London Zoo if you haven't already.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
^^ You mention Wire, Big Black and Deerhoof. This bodes very well.
  • uhh

I've sampled King Crimson before? :'D

did I mention I make tunes

  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    He does.

I also make tunes. And soundscapes.
  • imagei will watch the heck outta this pumpkin patch
Yes, the Kinks and King Crimson are bands that i know and are good
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Ye gods, it's 5:00 AM and I need to sleep.

Oh yes, I have a big ol' soft spot for 60's and 70's bands (as shown from my username).

    Nite man.

Final postscript: Naney, Yarrun and Sunn Wolf are also musicians in their own rights, and TNS is an actual legit recording engineer. We're very musical here.

(Interesting fact: The gay underground in Victorian England used to use "is he musical?" as a coded question. I'm not sure how accurate that is in this context.)

Good night, Srendi. There will be other days to have this type of discussion. :)

    P.S. I didn't know TNS was a recording engineer. That's actually pretty awesome. :D
  • I make tunes

    like this

    and like this

and sometimes left field like so

please listen to them because i require validation in my life

How did we end up with so many musicians on HH, anyway?

  • what if haven was actually a fire elemental this whole time
  • what if sometimes i'm goodie-goodie but right now i'm naughty-naughty
  • what if eX was just kidding around when he dissed the producer of the track he was on

why is this song so good

Timbaland and Aaliyah needs to collaborate more

We just need someone to revive Aaliyah from the dead

    (Or maybe a hologram)
  • what if cancer is secretly curable by eating gummi bears but the government hides all the real gummi bears and replaces them with fakes

    don't even joke about that ;-;

also he and Aaliyah did an entire album together. He's credited with most of the production on One in a Million, at any rate.

    ^^^No.

    You're parsing "really" wrong.

"Really" as in "reflecting reality" not as in "a whole lot".

I think someone compared torrenting to stealing food...

It's like those dumb ads on movie trailers have infected people.

    The ads were effective, apparently.

And our entire terminology for discussing copyright law invites analogies with theft of physical objects.
