You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
'Cause you know, when I go on HH, it's totally because I want to see a minor talk about being bitten.

i don't know why i tend to put "my dear watson" on the end of that sentence
i don't think holmes was known for unclever sarcasm

You know, it's weird but I feel like this is a much more overwhelming goal than Discworld.
i know this feel.
Don't be daunted by Sherlock Holmes, though; they're considerably lighter than the other things on that list, and the language is basically modern and no more difficult than Discworld.
I read mostly short horror/dark fantasy/surrealist fiction and the occasional smattering of postmodernist whimsy. In theory, I am well-read; in practice, I am pretty limited. Or maybe it's the other way around...
Karma police, arrest this man He talks in maths, he buzzes like a fridge He's like a detuned radio
Karma police, arrest this girl Her Hitler hairdo is making me feel ill And we have crashed her party
OK song, but there is much better on that album. "Airbag", in particular, is basically the quintessential Radiohead single, and "The Tourist" is just beautiful.

i like Exit Music.
Radiohead were my favourite band for a while, during which i thought that entire album was basically perfect.
my reading is much like my music-listening: diverse, but sporadic and limited.
I sometimes feel like that about my music listening. I have certain artists that I know an inordinate amount about, but I sometimes feel like my greater genre knowledge is lacking.
Exception: Post-punk. I think that I am basically a human post-punk encyclopaedia now.

I want to get a screenshot of this parking lot to draw over, but it's too big to fit on my screen at once at the highest zoom level.
i wish there was something i could claim an encyclopaedic knowledge of.
i am kind of a broken record about this i realize.
Unfortunately, Doctor Who on DVD is expensive, and the iirc the Region 1 selection is much more limited than the Region 2 selection. i'm not sure what options there are for US fans.

"Exit Music" is nice.
As affected as this sounds, I honestly like a lot of the stuff that Radiohead did after OK Computer much better than I like that album. Hail to the Thief, in particular, is really underrated.
That said, "Planet Telex" is probably my favourite Radiohead track in spite of The Bends as a whole being horribly inconsistent. The chords in the verse just feel epic (in the real sense), and Thom Yorke's weird drunken snarl is just perfect.
It's actually a while since i listened to one of their albums through. The Bends used to actually be my favourite, but i used to be a lot more into rock music than i am now.

Replace "post-punk" with "1990s alternative", and I pretty much feel the same way.

The timing is interesting to me since i've been reading crime fiction lately.

I kind of regret that when I was young enough that songs by Aaliyah etc. were still on the radio I didn't listen to them.
I actually kinda hated music in general until 7th grade or so.
When i was a kid i disliked most music, which i think was mainly resentment because other people liked it and expected me to know what it was.
