you already have an avatar

More to the point, the "I have no choice but to do it" mentality seems to show up in artistic fields a lot. I've seen it suggested that this may be because such fields have such a low success rate (having a breakthrough and making big money is rare) that only such irrational devotion would cause such things to get created at all. That is, artists have to be bizarrely compelled to their art or else they'd do the smart thing and become lawyers or something.
say what you might about success rates, but you are not more likely to become a doctor than a professional singer. The former might bring in more money, but it's not exactly a cakewalk to become one.
Things like making music and writing don't seem very comparable to being a lawyer or a doctor, to me. The latter seldom seem to inspire the same passion as the former.
Although some doctors and lawyers are really passionate about their jobs i guess.

Fun fact: it's illegal to have a sofa on your porch within Columbus, Ohio city limits, because college students would set them on fire during football riots.
my new thing is a nice slice of Critical Recordings inspired d'n'b, including an intro and part of a first drop (then i ran out of ideas), fully mixed to the best of my ability
Now I'm wondering, out of sheer boredom, just how convoluted a processor that'd be the equal of the Sandy Bridge in my laptop would be if you built it on late-1980s semiconductor technology. My guess is that at least one equipment rack would be required.
so this guy took a picture of himself and appended his own quote to it:
....and shared it with reddit and they all ripped into him and made fun of him because I guess he wasn't famous enough. How classist.
so a few months later, someone takes this same quote and puts it with a pic of Neil deGrasse Tyson and likewise attributes it to Neil with replies like this:
He nailed it. I posted this to Facebook and my conservative friends are trying to tear me down. Sorry, but a quote like this just needs to be heard.
sometimes i feel ashamed of liking sonic the hedgehog
OK timing aside, what's wrong with Sonic?
I'll admit I'm way out of the loop having become abandoned my hardcore Sonic love when I grew out of the Archie comics, but I wasn't aware their was any issue with liking him...
Provided you don't wear him on a t-shirt while trying to establish just how damn smart you are...
actually IIRC the pic is of just some random twit in a fedora, Aalewis just like made up a quote out of thin air and posted it saying "i know i'm not a professional quote-maker but..."
The 3D games, as far as i've played them, were flawed but enjoyable.
i remember Adventure 2 with particular fondness.
i had mixed feelings about the move away from traditional 3D platforming in favour of extremely linear high-adrenaline levels in more recent titles, but it seems to have pleased most people.

I was trying to think about the traffic engineering aspects of converting a former retail building to some other purpose, like a charter school.
When you think about it, the kind of parking lots used for both applications are very different: Retail establishments (esp. "big-box" styles, like grocery stores) have large, wide parking lots designed to accomodate customers moving in and out all day.
K-12 schools, on the other hand, usually have very deliberately-designed parking lots: some sort of area for students to be picked up and dropped off by parents, an area for buses to load and unload, and a parking area for employees and/or high school students.
I thought it would be kinda fun to sketch out some ideas on how to convert the former into the latter...

ugh, for some reason i feel like spending time on this would mean I have no life
even if i have nothing better to do and it's related to my desired career anyway

This is just some idea
It's really quite hard to succeed in any field that isn't just a generic service/labor job, to be completely frank.
Although some doctors and lawyers are really passionate about their jobs i guess.
i'm just saying, people usually seem more passionate about artistic occupations, or research ones. Less so about service jobs or whatever.
I don't know what Critical Recordings is but I'll listen to it as soon as I'm finished giving my album another once-over for errors.
It's almost finished at this point, I just need to tie up a few loose ends and get the "Dark Forest" remix from Sam Truth.

i like the character design because it reminds me of older American animation.
