I'm sure he'll hang around doing something distinctly non-musical, but much like 50 Cent and to a lesser extent Dr. Dre, he's not going to be making a big musical comeback anytime soon. Honestly he hasn't had a good album or mixtape in awhile (his last album was alright but was saved mostly by guest stars like Tech N9Ne and Busta Rhymes). Honestly most pop-star rappers make very little of their money off of their music, which is why Lil Wayne is simultaneously "pop" without actually being popular. He's more a cultural icon than a respected musician.
This is what I was talking about, dunno where this whole "myth" thing came from
I've known for a long time that the likes of Dre and Suge Knight stay behind the scenes working, which is essentially resting on their laurels but if these two (including this Wayne guy) ever want to make a comeback it would not be difficult for them to do so by any stretch of the imagination.
OK maybe I should've said "relevant" instead of popular.
Point is no one in the hip-hop community cares about them anymore. I'm pretty sure if Dr. Dre dropped his perpetually-in-progress Detox album today, no one would give a shit unless it featured Kendrick on a few tracks (which it well could, Dre's been trying to ride the kid's coattails and the last track of GKMC was a tacked-on Dre collab called "Compton" that is generally seen as the weakest track on the entire album).
Also Suge Knight was never a musician. Dude is probably the most hated figure in hip-hop honestly.

Doesn't matter. He's done very well for himself in the actual industry side of things much like Dre has. I don't what it is, but these guys seem to do very well in that environment. Compared to most folks who the industry chews up and spits out, they're uncanny.
Humanity, why are you such a screwup at everything? Your skin is an inferior material that is completely unsuited for the making of clothes (especially shoes), your eyeballs are too weak and soft to bounce, all of your organs are basically useless outside of our body, your bodies are mostly water so you're all squishy and stuff, you can't stick to walls like flies, you can't fly like a hummingbird, you aren't all stripey like a stripey-thing, you don't have that awesome pentachromic-or-whatever-it-is-called vision that pigeons have, you don't regrow teeth you lose like a shark, you can't squirt ink, you have no tail or claws, and your right hand is on the arm that should have your left hand and vice versa (you guys look so weird with the back of your hands having your thumbs in he middle and your pinkies on the edges, that just isn't right), you don't lay eggs, you don't make honey or produce a sugary drink for ants to eat, and you have underdeveloped senses of taste and smell; seriously, humanity, in a world that contains platypi, Hydra/Medusae, cephalopods, slugs, and spiders, you're kind of embarrassing.
Oh, wait, humans have hats; and are thus cool and stylish.

Suge Knight really isn't doing very well for himself. He hasn't been for a long time in fact. He's currently on probation, actually.
Also saying that it doesn't matter that he's not a musician when we're talking about music is uhhh
I just wanted to ask you to please not use the term "slut-shaming". "Slut" is a slur used to oppress women, and by saying "slut-shaming" you are still calling a woman a slut (which is completely missing the point- no woman is a slut).

I'm repeating what I heard from the folks who worked with him at Geffen from a dinner party from a few years ago. Anyway, at said party and I was sitting there listening to their talk when he came up and my question was "do you really call him 'Suge Knight' in conversation?" and they replied that they did and continued on to say that he does very well on business side of the industry.

I am almost certain those people worked for him and would thus never say a bad thing about him.
This is because Suge Knight is one of the most underhanded people in the recording industry, and being that this is the recording industry, that's fucking saying something.
This is a guy who used to routinely hire squads of thugs with baseball bats to go to rappers' houses and intimidate them into giving him song rights. I'm not necessarily even talking gangsta rappers who you'd possibly expect to deal with this kind of thing, he did this shit to Vanilla Ice, who is about as hardcore as my grandmother.
Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
You're right about the recording industry being underhanded as fuck. A few months ago my mom testified in some trial in LA for the widow of songwriter who got cheated out of royalties and this was a 25+ year battle, and it was settled in the widow's favor. That industry is cutthroat as hell and maybe that's why folks like Suge Knight and Dre survive so well in it.
i guess that's a thing i like about electronic music, usually the labels are run by musicians themselves (like all the big D'n'B labels are run by members of the old guard) and are pretty flexible with what material an artist can put out and encourage creativity and stuff
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
If I were ever to go into music, I would prefer to own my label. No having to deal with record executives, no being cheated, I would own my creations outright and thus I would decide how they are exploited.

Electronic and experimental music are usually pretty low on the sleaze scale as far as the record industry goes, I have noticed; that seems like as good an explanation as any for why this is.
Well, that and the fact of wanting to pursue experimental and/or electronic music as a career tends to come with a degree of... "earnestness" isn't quite the word. There is no expectation of fame due to the nature of the music in question and the culture surrounding it, so there is less of a cutthroat attitude at work.
Re: Words with Friends board game: The funniest part to me is that it's manufactured by Hasbro, i.e., the company that owns Scrabble in the U.S. and Canada.
Yup! Zynga successfully got Hasbro to back-license their own product. If that isn't a brilliant scam, I don't know what is.
One reason I never seriously tried to make it as a musician or author or anything like that is I figured the business end of it would kill me or my creativity or both.
Music isn't something you do because you want to, you do it because you have to. I will do it regardless of whether or not I am ever even remotely successful with it.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
I have an urge to do what may be the most stereotypically autistic thing I have thought of doing in recent memory.

I'm not really onboard with praising Suge Knight for being a fuckface to be perfectly honest.
This is the guy who's generally believed to have had Biggie killed.
edit: whoops
The rap industry isn't really nearly as bad now as it used to be either.
Though why Waka Flocka Flame associates with Suge will forever be beyond me.
although this is a guy who refers to himself as "Waka Flocka Flame".
WE GOT DAT SOTHERN HOSPITALITY

Urgh. That made me retch just thinking about it.
I snapped out of my trance at two in the morning.
You'd bought it before but you didn't download it? Dat's silly.
It's a good game though. I wish I could play it more often but it lags pretty heavily on my laptop.
I bought and downloaded it yesterday. It would wreck my computer, so I got the 360 version.
