I'll be honest, I never heard of Scott Pilgrim until that movie came out and I saw a bit of it and what I saw was pretty damn funny

i kinda liked the scott pilgrim movie too really, it was very clearly going for A Target Audience but it was very well done and pretty entertaining tbh

Scott Pilgrim is perfect, in both movie and book form.
I felt the movie was a little rushed, Scott falling in love with Ramona in a week or two is kind of off. He also doesn't really have an opportunity to grow into a better person, at least not to the extent he does in the book.
It's super entertaining with all the video game like action on the screen, but I think other story aspects suffered.

you might possibly make the case that "nerdiness" in general is a collection of several sub-cultures.
Even then, equating that to just a "culture" is really ignorant.
The books are better in that regard but the movie's just deep enough that the relationship aspect works, which is to be expected, considering Hollywood.
Also I'm not actually a weeaboo, unless liking a few Japanese animated shows immediately makes one qualify.
I like a good chunk of Japanese pop- and sub- culture that I'm aware of, but I also hate some of it and I also don't really like much of Japanese traditional culture, and I'd never want to live in Japan.

I think that's what it was supposed to be originally. Now it's either just "lol u liek anime lol weeaboo" or the hot new thing for anime fans to call themselves after "otaku" wore out its welcome. Because we really need more ways to embarrass ourselves I guess.
