c'mon Kexruct be my little pepper-master and watch the show for me.
  • Well, I only have time for one episode but I'll still try it anyway.
  • Ninja'd, but appropriately so.
  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
    wait, Mojave watches Doctor Who
  • I can't tell if these special effects are good for their time or if they were just as charmingly bad back then.

  • I feel like posting stuff that I do not care. You know what that means: time off Google translation of French!

Have you ever returned to be who you are? I certainly do. It's as if ... It's bad enough that I had to be human, but I had to be a human with a male body and a female spirit. A poor man with social skills of a small child who will probably never accomplish anything worthwhile to put his name on. Is it wrong for me to feel like I was cheated massively here?

(I feel like I'll regret posting this in 20 minutes, but I've never been known for my good judgment.)

I feel like Google Translate missed some of the subtleties of this post.

    The original text was this:

    Spoiler:
I feel like posting stuff only I would care about. You know what that means: time for broken Google-translated French!

Do you ever resent being who you are? I sure do. It's like...it's bad enough that I had to be human, but I had to be a human with a male body and a female mind. An impoverished human with the social skills of a small child, who will likely never accomplish anything worth putting her name on. Is it wrong for me to feel like I've been massively cheated here?

So it's not that far off, pronoun confusion aside.

The TARDIS translates all speech and writing across space and time for the sake of its travelers.

A cop-out explanation, yes, but a firmly established one.
  • Oh, okay.

Would it upset any fans if I said that this first fight scene between Ian (I think that's his name) and Aztec Warrior Guy Whose Name I Don't Remember is absolutely hilarious?
  • Finished the first episode. It seemed pretty good.

^^ Doctor Who is full of unintentional comedy, so no.  And yes, Ian Chesterton.

The special effects do get much, much better over time, although the revived series still has some pretty naff CGI.

('Gas-powered stick' is presumably a Bravest Warriors reference, because i've been a fan of Doctor Who for over 7 years and i've never heard of it.)
  • There is some very pretty scenery porn in the revived series.

That's true, some of the set design is gorgeous.

On the whole, the post-revival episodes look pretty amazing.

I like the first two episodes of series 6, with all the Utah scenery.

But I LOVED the Christmas episode with the clouds :3

Oh, and Wester Drumlins looked pretty, as well.

    Agreed!

The Library in series 4 was possibly my favourite.  i liked the forest in series 5 and the recent Dalek asylum, as well.  Also, the palace in The Girl in the Fireplace.
  • So many pretty places! :3

So I can watch the canon Weeping Angel episodes (Blink, The Time Of Angels, Flesh And Stone, The Angels Take Manhattan) no problem.

But I can't watch this the full way through without going "nope!":

  • It really annoys me when people say the Slender Man is just jump scares.
  • Am I the only one who loves the new interior of the TARDIS?

@ Kexruct: Slender Man or Slender (the game)?

    @ Tools: No, it's spectacular.

Both, really. With the game, people who complain don't seem to realize how much it got right.

Old British sci-fi is made of cardboard and duct tape. Slightly newer sci-fi could afford polystyrene, and on rare occasions, even plastic.

The wobbly sets and quarries doubling for alien planets have been a popular joke for a long time.

The theme music, OTOH, was considered groundbreaking in its day.

  • Oh, wow, I didn't know the name Zestpoole had a history on the old Heap

This, somehow, makes our mascot's name all the more hilarious
  • The first few results when you google Zestpoole are all about how it's a terrible name.

And it includes that one page on the original heap.

Yes, it is a long and glorious story.

Hmmm, I was looking at a restaturant's site, and I noticed them using something called Lato:

The smaller sizes remind me of the bitmapped Helvetica-but-not-quite that comes with X11...

I'm feeling sick, so if I could I would stay home today, but my brother needs picked up from school, so really I have no choice.

    Ouch.

It seems to be back to wintertime temperatures here, after a brief interlude of 60-degree days. Still, I'm not complaining, as long as I don't have to drive on snow.
