I only really started using Snarl once I got used to Ubuntu's libnotify popups, which are pretty much the same thing except built into the operating system.
I like having it around for Pidgin because it's helpful to be able to see a snippet when I get an IM or am mentioned in a channel, instead of just hearing a sound.

Case in point: I was eating breakfast at school this morning and one of my friends asks a guy if he would shake hands with Obama if he offered his hand. Both of them said no. I pointed out that if the most powerful man in the world actually came up to one of them and offered his hand they probably wouldn't be that bold. Naturally, this led to an argument. I asked what both of them actually disliked about Obama and they both said Obamacare. When I asked if they knew what Obamacare was, one of them simply said "Ugh, it's freaking health care." and the other said "Obamacare got passed even though the Senate, the House of Representatives and all those people hated it, isn't that suspicious?"
I don't know why I let myself get dragged into arguments that stupid.
