frankly I'd be content with more or less any job where I don't have to deal with screaming people or manual labor

but hey to get one of those I'd have to get a hard science degree

welcome to "reason half of our country is chronically depressed #9,781"

I'd love nothing more than to be paid as an artist.  I don't like computer programming and I don't like math but I'm working on a degree focusing on those two subjects because I like the idea of having a decent paying job that doesn't rely on a fickle economy or the slim chance that I "make it" like other artists and performers do. Life didn't give me what I want but I'm not depressed for it, either. Maybe it's because I dropped my sense of entitlement the best I could and just dealt with it.

Dude if I could just decide to "not be entitled" anymore and stop being depressed I certainly would.

Also, i pretty much agree with Mojave here, i just don't have anything smart to add and don't trust myself to argue about this without making an idiot of myself again.

But like, i sympathize and shit.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
Working on Black Candles, yes. Specifically, getting deep into it which is stupid because I have to get up early tomorrow.

And I also have some sympathy for what Mojave is saying.

that's a vague question though. Are you talking about distance, or scouting a parameter?
    Distance.

If a group of soldiers/Marines had to run through Middle-Earth to get to Mordor, with the LOTR soundtrack blaring behind them, how far could they go without stopping. That's what I was thinking of

If anything I'm the one of us that habitually makes an idiot of myself, so, y'know, feel free to chime in anytime.

Well 15k-25k hikes with full pack and weapon (about 100lbs) aren't uncommon for Marines but if they're going about it lighter, well they could rip through flatland like shit through a goose and 35k in a day would be possible if met with no resistance and perfect weather

Now through mountains and inclement weather, that changes. Especially if we're talking Raspusitsa here, then shit will grind to a halt.

If you're really interested in reading about how hard troops can be pressed to cover ground in the worst of weather and against a determined enemy, go read up on Zhukov's and Koniev's charge towards Berlin in 1945. That can give you a rough idea, but the shit they endured was fucking extreme. Zhukov, for instance, had no problem clearing a minefield by having his troops charge across it and disregard the loss.

As you may have seen in Blixt's shouts and posts, this dude likes to endlessly go on about needless things. I suggest management give Blixt a 100 character limit so he can learn who to be considerate of the unintelligent coons/cacs/spics etc of the forum.

lmao real talk tho, I read that niggas status and was like damn do you need to type a fuckin harry potter book.
That nigga thinks hes JK Rowling (dont give a fuck if that was spelled right)

Yes they're serious. This is from OddFutureTalk.

Reminds me of something from Discworld. A character is described as believing if you subtract your opponent's troops from your troops at the end of a battle and the result is positive, it was a Glorious Victory.

    Pfft.

Different forums, different conventions, anyway.  i can't comment on OFTalk since i don't post there, but your posts aren't notably wordy by troper or heaper standards.

  • I suppose not. I've been told by Tropers (ex and otherwise) that I ramble a lot though.

Well, that's understandable. The traditional Russian way is to succeed at the cost of, well, surviving.
