i want to be the kind of person who writes daily and maintains massive projects or who draws well or composes music or who understands kant and hegel and reads zizek and deleuze for fun or can do calculus or program computers or can read massive long novels like war and peace without losing patience or has a near encylopedic knowledge of even one technology or genre of music or aspect of design or some other thing about the world that people actually care about, that's in some way useful or transferable or at least makes for interesting conversation and i want to be there for people and never disappoint them
i want like a do-over, i want to be a teenager again, i want to mature with everyone else

ABC Inc doesn't have financial data like a real public company, it doesn't focus enough on international growth, and I fear that it neglects KMGH-TV, the ABC station in my fucking hometown
It is not a ratings juggernaut, and it's kind of impresent in the community. It never really sponsors local events, though weatherman Mike Nelson does visit schools...he seems to be their most prominent personality (he was poached from longtime market leader KUSA in 2004, a coup they still seem very proud of), not to mention that its presence in local sports is lacking. Perhaps owing to ABC's recent lack of NFL games it didn't seem to make a grab for being the "official station" of the Broncos when the rights went from KCNC back to KUSA in 2011 (though all this really amounts to are some studio shows and preseason games anyway)
I wish that I could apply the knowledge and skills that I have in some meaningful way, preferably one that would satisfy my long-standing and patently delusional ambitions.

I want to be the kind of person who creates something she can be proud to put her name on.
I want to be the kind of person whom my relatives will talk to their friends about, like, "hey, did you know my aunt designed [x]?" and the friend'll be all "oh, that's cool" and even if they don't really mean "that's cool" it's still neat that the nephew thought it was worth mentioning to begin with, you know?
I want to be someone who makes it clear that, while I'm forced to live and function in American society, I reject a good number of the values and ideals the population at large holds dear.
Alternatively, I want to not be American, though realistically I recognize that no country is going to be perfect for me.
I want to be someone confused young people can look to and say "well, she was fucked up at my age too, and she turned out fine. Maybe there's hope for me!"
I want a second chance to go back and be the little girl I never got to be.
I also want to be the kind of person who can take a list like this and turn into rap lyrics.

As I mentioned earlier today (although I admit, not here), the issue here is that this piece was approved by a major British newspaper (and notably, one of our more liberal ones), and since trans issues aren't covered under the PCC's discrimination clause (Clause 12), it can't even be reported.

suzanne moore is an okay writer who i think made an (admittedly tasteless) line, some people on twitter criticised her reasonably, others went typical internet social justice mode and massively overreacted, moore in turn overreacted as well... bleh. its a cycle of people acting terribly and moore should just go 'okay it was a tasteless line' or something (the article Cream posted above all but does that, really). everyone needs to calm the fuck down.

i wonder if the Guardian people have any kind of a say in what the Observer can/cant post on their website that has their name on it - if they do then somebody clearly greenlighted this, but if not, then that is pretty terrible practice... though this is the grauniad so terrible practice would not be overly surprising.
