Wow, I'm looking through some old emails, and I found one from myself, from mid-1998. Witness the punchability:

Subject: Why I could not make it into work today.

1) I had that dental appointment at 1:30 pm, and I had overslept until
almost noon :/, so by the time I got out of bed and was dressed, getting to
Herndon and back before the appointment would have been impossible. (For
what it's worth, they want to take out the filling in that tooth and see if
there's any decay under it. Worst-case scenario is a root canal. I'm going
to need insurance IMMEDIATELY if this is the case...)

2) My car's vibration problem has gotten worse and worse; I did use it
today, to goto the dentist, but after that I went to auto-parts places to
get a wrench to pull my spark plugs, since I wanted to fix the problem and
didn't want to risk it dying on 66 or 28 on the way to Herndon. As I tried
to check the plugs in the Wal-Mart parking lot, I saw that the lead going to
cylinder 1 was completely hosed--it pulled right out. Later, when I changed
the plugs and leads, I saw that the cylinder 1 plug was coated in oil, while
the others were fine, indicating to me that the cylinder had not been firing
all this time. The new plugs (which Jimmy has been meaning to put in for a
while, but never got around to) and wires seem to have cured the problem,
but after I put them in and did a road test, it was 6pm.

If you do still want me to come in tonight, I guess I can, and I do realise
I should have told someone sooner...my original intent was to come in on
time, then head down to the dentistat around noon, then come back.

Notice that I didn't include the signature. You'd definitely have wanted to punch me if you saw that. :P

Huh, that's a really good point.

Maybe not everyone has figured out they can get apps that do the same thing as the calculator. It never occurred to me until now.

Granted, I'm out of college and don't use my old calculator anymore...Hell, I'm not sure if I even have one. I probably sold it or gave it to my younger brother at some point.
