It's not because your opinion is contrary to mine. It's because you completely dismissed an article that actually made a few valid points. Like I said, I don't like the concept of privilege either, but I didn't write off that guy's article as complete nonsense because of it.

And a broken clock is right twice a day. Just because someone's argument contains a few elements of truth does not validate it as a whole -- so yes, I'm going to completely dismiss that man's drivel.
I'm not saying it was valid as a whole- in fact, I'm specifically saying a lot of it was stupid. But it goes two ways: a few good points doesn't validate an entire thing and a few stupid points doesn't invalidate it.

And whenever it comes to this point, that's when you take a good look at the foundation of the argument. In the case for this fellow's argument, there isn't one.

So I rode down to my storage yesterday to get my Sega Saturn out of storage and it wasn't there. It's not here, either. OH GOD MY SATURN guess I'll have to save up for another one
By typing this here, on the internet, with internet access, and the money to pay for it, and the freedom to do so without your government threatening you, and with a lack of prejudice on our part towards you, you are experiencing privilege. If this were a world with no privilege, we would all be born equal and treated equal based on our actions, but we are not. And some privileges, such as male privilege, are culturally imbued. It is more of a reality than it is an opinion, and dismissing it as 'whining' does not make the reality go away.
Cream, simply put I find the entire notion of "privilege" to be devoid of merit, and a few months ago Bobby and I had quite an discussion about it so I'm going to refer you to it: It starts here. And specifically this post here.
In that thread I state every reason I have for my position on the subject and I'm sure nobody in this thread wants a retread of it.
That is what "privilege" means, and if you want to pretend that girls don't experience this, then that is fine I guess.
I don't pretend it doesn't exist, I just call it by its correct label: "being a jerk." There's no "privilege" in being a sniveling little worm who's mad because he can't land a hot date and calls women CUNT and WHORE over X-Box live when he encounters them. In fact, I can't think of many worse fates than being that kind of guy.
I don't even bother defending the gaming industry anymore, since I realized the only tripe-A title I play is Halo, and everything else I play is from indie developers (the next biggest one being Mojang's Minecraft, which I think you'd have a hard time arguing is misogynist or otherwise biased) anymore.
Why is it that every time Nintendo does something new it's a gimmick or a cash grab but every time they don't it's stagnation?
Most of the new stuff they do is incredibly gimmicky, and most of their long-running franchises have been doing the same thing for years.
I think the 3DS is a notable exception in the former regard, but I have only one game for it so I don't know how the latter is going to play out.
How is it gimmicky though? First party games for both the Wii and Wii U have made great use of the technology, and considering you've hardly played any of their major franchises I don't think you know what you're talking about in that regard.

The Wii made terrible use of its technology with the majority of the games either making clumsy use of the motion controls or just having you hold the wiimote sideways and use it like a regular controller.
And I don't have to play every Super Mario Brothers game to know that almost all of the 2D ones are almost identical, excepting the RPG installments.
as for Halo, have you ever played that? If anything the little changes from game-to-game are one of the biggest things the franchise gets flack for. Plus there is more to Halo than "run and jump", even if they all were the same.

I don't have to play ever single Halo game to know that they're all the same.
As for Mario, Zelda, and any other Nintendo franchise, really, have you ever played that? If anything, the little changes from game-to-game are the biggest things those franchises get flak for. Plus, there is more to Nintendo games than "find and shoot", even if they all were the same.
For the record, I don't dislike Halo. Granted, competitive first person shooters aren't exactly my favorite genre, but I loved Halo 3 when I was younger. I was just pointing out the hypocrisy of you saying Nintendo never changes when Halo still has roughly the same gameplay as it did in the first installment, and you really can't say the same of any Nintendo franchise other than Mario.

One cold, wet day during combat training I'm sitting in a fighting hole with another Marine and he's all "man I can't wait to get back home and play Call of Duty"

To be fair, a good FPS game does involve some skill and strategy. Just, the popularity of low difficulty levels makes it "hold the trigger for 3 hours and watch the cutscenes." But what do I know, I almost never play FPS games.
That wasn't really something I believe. I'm just saying that the arguments of Microsoft fanboys and Nintendo fanboys are virtually the same and are both pretty stupid.

I will grant that I simply enjoy Halo more than (eg.) Mario and so on. I'm just explaining why people say what they do.
I really have more a problem with Nintendo's attempts to shoehorn in new technology where it doesn't belong. Which is why I said the 3DS is an exception since I think it actually works there, but I hated the Wii, and I am not confident enough in the Wii U to even buy one, so.

what happened with Bioware?

this song has some of the worst aural watermarks I've ever heard.
