Pet peeve: Cryptic menu options
I get that the small screen of a digital camera leaves no room for wordiness, but I shouldn't have to spend 2 minutes looking at a menu option to figure out that "AE BKT EV STEPS" means "Autoexposure Bracketing Exposure Value".
Although I guess if you’re really worried about your stuff being reposted without credit, just put your tumblr URL on everything you draw.
Or just, I dunno, sign it.
Not like in the corner but like really close to the main subject of the drawing but do it small enough that people might not notice it at first but large enough that it’s readable.
When I do a finished work I always sign it with my initials and have it close to some important lines. Anybody who’s seen enough of my work will be able to know that I did it.
I suppose that won’t stop some people from erasing your signature but it’s a hell of a lot less obtrusive than a watermark, and people just reposting your art because they like it won’t go through the effort of erasing it because they just like your art. The signature will also help people identifying it to be able to tell it from another artist with a similar style.
Most of the art I have saved up on my hard drive that’s porn or fanart doesn’t have any sources on it at all and I feel like I can’t even post it because I don’t even remember who drew what. I try and help other people source stuff when I can but I dunno.
Sometimes artists only ever post a drawing once on like 4chan or something and how the fuck are you ever going to track them down from there dude?
das geilste video was ich je gesehen habe!!!! und der track ist natürlich auch spitzenklasse!!!!!!!!!! wer hat das video produziert? gibts es noch mehr davon????
Can't really speak on the comic industry myself, as most of my knowledge of it is secondhand. Maybe a fifth of the internet's like that, only knowing about comics from the memes they produce or from internet reviewers (i.e. Linkara).
I will say that I like Bill Watterson's style. And what I've seen of Bloom Country and Herriman's Krazy Kat, I like.
Still, I think grittiness in comics can work, even given a declivity to maudlin storylines. It works best when it takes place in its own universe with its own characters, rather than using established settings which are unsuitable to the plot. In other words, it works best in deconstructive comics, like Watchmen (which I have not read) or Irredeemable. And even then, such comics are best read for their themes and concepts than their characters or plot. They serve a poetic role instead of a prosaic role, taking known elements, casting them in a new arrangement, and using them to ask questions.

I guess he's Xbox, and I'm more Atari, but the way you play your game ain't fair.

I'm looping "Fuck You" now and it's all Kexruct's fault
People often accuse me of being a lefty. That’s complete rubbish. If you look at The Century of the Self, what I’m arguing is something very close to a neo-conservative position because I’m saying that, with the rise of individualism, you tend to get the corrosion of the other idea of social bonds and communal networks, because everyone is on their own. Well, that’s what the neo-conservatives argue, domestically...If you ask me what my politics are, I’m very much a creature of my time. I don’t really have any. I change my mind over different issues, but I am much more fond of a libertarian view. I have a more libertarian tendency

All the unusual words tend to come up at this hour of the night.
I guess I'm not going to be falling back to sleep anytime soon.
I should get my NES controller out and play Miserere.
