I've been up since a little before 9 PM myself.
I'd only slept a couple hours, but before that I'd slept almost 8 hours. So I'm physically tired from all the walking I did, but not sleepy in the slightest.

That's College Avenue in Westerville, Ohio. When I was 3, that dance studio was a laundromat. One day my mother, my uncle were doing laundry in there while I sat around. Except I didn't sit around, I wandered out the door and into the middle of the street.
My uncle saw me out of the corner of his eye and ran and grabbed me out of the street just in time before I got hit by a car. So...yeah, he literally saved my life there.

I'm looking at videos of UK traffic lights with filter arrows now.
It seems that they usually go straight from green arrow to no arrow. That wouldn't fly in America; one of our firm rules is that a green arrow must always be followed by an amber arrow unless the circular green alongside it goes to amber at the same time.

I read it in sixth grade, but Gilly's racism kinda bugged me. I'm tempted to read it again with adult eyes (to the extent that I can be considered an adult) and see if context makes it any better.
