Out of all the nations that got hurt in the other terrible war, Germany's the one that's most anti-Nazi. From what I hear, it takes a single jackbooted goosestep to anger the nation. The German port of I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream was made unwinnable because they took out the part where a character was in a Nazi camp.
It's the same thing here. We generally don't talk about the KKK, or the terrible, terrible thing that was lynching because American ancestors populated the KKK, and American ancestors were the victims and victimized in lynching cases.
Also, the KKK's brand of terrible isn't nearly as dead as that of the Nazis. Look up James Byrd Jr.

Well, it worries me for two reasons:
The "snarky internet critic" thing has already been done to death, and I don't know if I can actually bring something new to the table. Hell, the format I have in mind was inspired heavily by sites like Blogger Beware! and Linkara's old text-based comic reviews.
Doing so would require reading a bunch of kids' books, and I worry that reading kids' books makes me an autistic womanchild, though this may be silly if I'm doing so for the sake of criticism.
