Honestly, I never got the appeal of Calvin and Hobbes.
Neither did I, other than it being the only other good comic on the page besides Bloom County. Aside from that, I find Watterson's adamant decision not to whore out his IP to be incredibly admirable and an example to follow. Not that 11.975MHz will ever achieve such a lofty status, but still

I always found it amazing that Watterson signed a contract that allowed licensing, then despite, by his own admission, having no legal ground to stand on, he fought to keep the syndicate from licensing his work and won.
yeah, those were the worst fucking thing. In the 90s every fucking idiot who owned a truck from one of the Detroit Big Three had a sticker of Calvin peeing on one of the others or both.

I'm trying to find the comic the peeing Calvin image was taken from...I could've sworn it was from a panel where he was bent over a spigot filling a water balloon, but I can't find the exact match.

The fourth panel here seems to be the closest match. 5 June 1988:
Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
I wouldn't doubt that's the source. At the time, grey-market shit like that was pretty rampant in the United States -- for instance, some shady t-shirt designers would trace official Simpsons artwork and then color them as a black family and sold them like crazy. I'm pretty sure "Chronic the Hedgehog" arrived during this period as well.

You know, I heard a rumor long ago that the reason Bart Simpson was depicted in a blue shirt in official merchandise (in the early '90s, at least) despite wearing a red shirt on the show was to make counterfeit "merchandise" easier to identify.

For whomever that it was who asked what nightblogging is:
Well, buggy Skyrim problems are finally dealt with. I can now move on with my life. At least, until I get addicted to Skyrim again. Which may or may not be in a few hours.
The world looks so beautiful now that I'm not obsessing over a videogame being broken.
Watterson battled against pressure from publishers to merchandise his work, something he felt would cheapen his comic.[13] He refused to merchandise his creations on the grounds that displaying Calvin and Hobbes images on commercially sold mugs, stickers and T-shirts would devalue the characters and their personalities.[14] Despite this, many knockoffs have been found, including college T-shirts which show Calvin and Hobbes binge drinking or Calvin urinating on a logo.

It's on public property, but it's on the driveway to a state office complex. Said office complex is open to the public, because it's where you go to get driving exams and such, but...honestly, I'm paranoid about such things.
I don't see how. The only way that you could would be if we lived in a Stalinist state and we're no where near that (despite what both the extreme left and the right keep crying about.)

That's what I figured. Like I said, I just get paranoid sometimes.

Skyrim is temporarily borked. It's a problem with a certain quest on computer versions. Keeps crashing every time I try to save.
Starting to realize exactly how dependent I've become on this game.
