    no

that's literally like Eminem's worst mainstream song

Worse than Just Lose It? Or I Need a Doctor? Or any number of others?

"I Need a Doctor" is an alright song.

Just Lose It ties with the other one though.

  • I'm not understanding how the concept of Money-> Stuff/ No money-> No stuff   is even remotely close to objectivism.
  • Oooh, maybe I can retool I Love The... and turn it into a cool look at the funky underground retro stuff of days past.

    It can be on Tunnel!

It's a reference to the book itself.

No need to get so defensive, bro.

    You can keep those shows

But where will you put them

And will you turn CMT into something useful because apparently no one gives a shit about CMT

Also what will you do with TCM
  • Not a hybrid rabbit-skink spirit
I once had a friend with the last name Galt

    he was pretty cute

I guess that's okay, but there's really no reason to bring up your hate for a particular song when someone is just referencing a song.

    Dude I was making rapjoke.

I make rapjoke all the time.

    All the time.

  • I'm not understanding how the concept of Money-> Stuff/ No money-> No stuff   is even remotely close to objectivism.
uncharitable and deliberately hard-nosedly capitalism-tastic Mr. Galt
  • Hey kids, you know what time it is?

  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
"Without music, life would be an error" - Nietzsche
  • So. MTV Networks, by Tre, would basically be:

    MTV (duh)
    Tunnel (formerly MTV2)
    Tr3s
    MTV Jams
    MTV Hits
    Palladia
    CMT, et al
    MTVU
    MTV Desi
    Logo
    Comedy Central
    Spike

...Seems so much smaller than it was. Then again, sometimes all you need is a few good anchors to keep the whole boat steady, and I'd bank on Tunnel's success.

I'd hardly say that not being able to afford music regularly is something that warrants charity.
  • Well ok then Mr. Galt.

Yeah, I think CMT can go to NBCUniversal. It can be their problem.

And TCM... hmm. I don't want to tinker too much with it because I have a feeling if I did then some random folks'll come out of the woodwork demanding the old version of it back.
  • Comparing someone to John Galt is functionally equivalent to Godwins Law, so I'd say this argument is just about over.
  • Ok then, you win Mr. Galt.
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
Ok, Kex, let me ask this: who's hurt by someone who can't afford music pirating it?

The copyright holder wasn't going to get your money either way, because you don't have any to give them. And it's not like stealing a physical object--you haven't deprived them of the possession of anything, you've merely used technology to make another of it.
  • I hate talking about piracy.

Mainly because no matter what, I'm always going to end up buying the stuff anyway.
  • Best Week Ever... I'd probably find a new crew for it that actually knew humor, and then put it on Comedy Central.

    Maybe beside Tosh.0 or something.
  • Kexruct said:

I knew this was how it was gonna turn out, as did Mojave, hence our reluctance to discuss it.

Like I said before, it's not music I care about, it's mainly games and such.

But who, for example, is hurt when someone shoplifts from Wal Mart? But no one tries to justify that.

Because I also hate that anyone feels like they don't have to pay for something when I feel morally obligated to do so.

You have to pay because that's the law, and it's not fair to do so when there are people willing to pay.

So this has literally nothing to do with, say, logic, sound arguments, decent discussions. You're just mad?

Dude, come on. You know that's a bad reason to start a conversation.

We gave you plenty of reasons. It is not the fault of anyone here that your moral standards are different from ours.

Simple. If you shoplift (for example) a t-shirt from Wal-Mart, you've hurt Wal-Mart because they now have one fewer t-shirt to sell and have not received any compensation for it.

But if you could press a button an magically make an identical t-shirt (the way you can with digital music files), would anyone be hurt if you did so without paying?

(Yes, I know this is an oversimplification, because it costs something to produce a song in the first place. But I'm trying to get Kex thinking.)

What would NBCU want with CMT
  • OK, I'm kinda done here.

I'm going to go watch more SEL, which I'm sure predicted this exact conversation like it predicted everything else about the internet.

also I'm not normally the type to say "I told you so", but I did.

Shoplifting is such a tiny thing, though, something which Wal Mart could obviously afford every once in a while. Do you really think one ten dollar t-shirt is going to harm a multi-billion business? But for some reason, shoplifting is less common than piracy.
  • I dunno. Same thing they'll want with the Esquire network, I guess.

Some perspective on my financial situation: I have no job, though I am working on it, neither does my mom. My estranged father makes 12 odd-dollars an hour working at a nursing home, and sends us roughly 130-odd dollars a week as child support. In addition to this, we have food stamps.

    That is it.

If i'm lucky, I get maybe like 10 dollars a month or so.

This christmas, I got 50 dollars from my grandpa. I bought myself 2 flannel shirts from goodwill because I was running low and it's getting cold out, and spent the rest on music.

As I said, I purchase music whenever I can Mr. Galt.
