I'm sure most here know I've looked at a lot of theology.

Agree with Naney, most of the "There is no God" arguments have been around for centuries and have answers or at least challenges.

Another issue I have is with the "God is inherently illogical", these are often built on dubious uses of Occam's Razor coupled with a suggesting that's often as illogical as suggesting God exists or worse, putting forth "I dunno, lol!" as an alternative.

Is it bad that I'm already dreading that moment when public schools across the country that had nothing to do with Sandy Hook use the tragedy as an excuse to implement overly strict "security" policies?

It happens after every prominent school shooting and it never fails to piss me off...
  • I'm honestly.

    I don't know.

I don't want to say I'm sick of hearing about the shooting, because that makes me sound like an insenstive fuck. Don't get me wrong I cry over this shit because I'm a pussy or something, but that's how it would sound.

I just wish everyone would stop and just....ugh. Can we all agree that this was a horrible tragedy and not just blame the gun, or blame the lack of easily available mental healthcare, or blame society or blame America can we all just stop please.

    On the other hand.

I feel that most of these people have at least something of a point. Just because this shooting would not have been prevented by (say) stricter gun laws (and it would not have, it wasn't his gun), doesn't mean we shouldn't enact them anyway, I guess.

    I just.

I wish it didn't take this to make people talk about these issues. I guess that's a good way to put it.

I don't want to live in a world where children have to die for anything to change.

I also don't want to live in a world where children have to die for things to change, but I certainly don't want to live in a world where children die and nothing changes.
  • I'm not really arguing with you.

I just think it's really depressing that this is apparently, roughly, the level of wake up call-ness the country needs to even discuss these issues, much less actually do anything about them.

    I agree.

I'm just frustrated by the people who say "this is not the time to discuss gun control." Then when the hell is? How many people need to die preventable deaths before people stand up and say "this is unacceptable"?
  • On another note entirely. Sometimes I think I might be a manchild in the making, and then I read things like this

"Phone phreak" Joe Engressia, who had a perfect pitch, and became famous after he found he could make free phone calls by whistling tones. In 1988, at the age of 39, he decided to revert to his childhood. In 1991, he officially changed his name to Joybubbles, and for the rest of his life, he claimed that he was five years old.

In the immortal words of R.A. The Rugged Man, "what the fuck you doin'?"

I'm trying to think of a humorous quip in response to that, but...yeah, I got nothin'.

I read about Joybubbles when I found out about him via a thread on another forum where people talked about how much MLP:FIM sucked and then wound up talking about literature instead
  • Jeez.

It's only been about a year since I last checked in on Jandek, and dude's already released three more albums since then.

  • Just found out about twelve-year-old Japanese-born "outsider musician" Maya Bond.

  • I don't care for the lunar rabbits, honestly. They're some of my least favorite characters, especially the manga only ones (yes, there is official Touhou manga. It isn't honestly that good though.)

I am now become sleep, creator of worlds.

    Goodnight.

"Our thoughts and prayers to those in Newton, Connecticut right now."

You know, radio DJ lady, your insincerity would be mildly more convincing if you could get the name of the city right.

Long, patronizing explanations of things people already understand, in the manner delivered by male Internet users seeking to explain to feminists how men think or how gender politics work.
