I find the "Fake Nerd Girl" thing kinda amusing because it's built around this idea that girls want nerdy guys.
I mean, are any girls really gonna be attracted to the kind of asshole who goes on about "YOU MUST BE A REAL NERD" in the first place?

@Naney: I laughed harder than I probably should have
Edit: At the Sheldon thing, not the headphone thing

You know
Two years ago this week, the house behind ours burned down

I'd call it "sour grapes" but I don't think that's the proper name for the whole "she'll never have anything to do with me in a million years so I'll put on the act that she's not good enough for me, ha ha touche you vapid cunt!"

I used to self-identify as a nerd, until I realized that people who self-identify as nerds are often (disclaimer I should't have to add: but not always) people who wear the name as a badge that must not be tarnished, like the guy in that video from a couple weeks back.
I figure I'd still qualify under most people's definitions, though...

...Would Ryan Lanza have any legal ground to stand on if he sued CNN for defamation?
I'm a nerd but I don't place the label upon other people unless they either take pride in it themselves or allow me to say it about them without being offended.
Likewise, I don't actually think of it as being a term that can never be tarnished; if someone thinks they're a nerd, let them do so. The whole "nerd girl" thing is a bit ridiculous, as is that one picture that shows "expectations/reality" for what girls want when they say they want a nerd boy and expect them to be Matt Smith.
I feel a little weird because, while I do have some interests that can be considered "nerdy," I don't think I've ever consciously thought of myself as a nerd or tried to identify with some "nerd culture" or whatever.

Honestly, I think the fact that I don't call myself a nerd anymore has less to do with "nerd culture" itself and more to do with the fact that I'm past that point in my life where I feel the need to slap labels on myself.
Two or three years ago I was so desperate to define myself that I would slap as many labels on myself as I could, hoping to find somewhere I could fit. I'm a nerd! I'm effeminate! I'm a troper!
But as I've sorta come out of my shell socially and made friends, I've sorta gotten a better handle on who I am as a person and I no longer feel I need to define myself through labels.

Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.
I would think a single label would be appropriate if it's the actual sum of a person's personality and experiences, but that would require a person to report that of themselves and objectively, too.

(There was a fire alarm at uni today but I think it was a drill.)
So much this.
a hipster is ironically something you've probably never heard of
It is a truth universally acknowledged that I am a nerd.
bluh
^ I don't know US law, but I'd certainly have thought so.

I gave part of it to my sister because she's addicted to those things. I now know why.
I just think of myself as...me.
I want to be honest about what I am, without defining myself according to shallow labels.
