I kinda want to do another Google Street View "roadtrip", even though I never had much success with those.

The tendency of people to call The Mall At Tuttle Crossing just "Tuttle Mall" has always annoyed me.

Eh, that's more Haven's thing. How 'bout I just give them detention?

I don't know. Something about the typeface choice feels kinda "off".

E-470 fascinates me. It's not a state highway, rather, it's maintained by the "E-470 Public Highway Authority", an organization created by a bunch of local governments to fund the construction of the highway, which apparently has one of the highest toll rates in the nation.

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
McGraw-Hill selling KMGH and its siblings to Scripps suddenly depresses me.
KMGH has had the same owner for thirty-nine years; the only station in Denver to have had the same owner for longer is KWGN (The Tribune Company has owned that station since 1964; however, it's been operated by Local TV LLC since about 2009).

I never thought of it that way, but that does seem kind of sad.

My favorite part of that is the strict geometric letters!
Also when thinking of particularly long-tenured Columbus station owners I thought of the Dispatch Broadcast Group. WBNS-TV (and the AM and FM sides too, I think) has never changed hands, ever, and is one of few non-network-owned stations in the US never to have done so, I think.
I can also think of WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee (some incarnation of Journal Communications has always owned it) off the top of my head. And WPIX-TV in New York and WGN-TV in Chicago (both Tribune stations).

Huh, apparently Dispatch Broadcast Group owns WTHR in Indianapolis, too.

They do. I thought you knew that.
When trying to expand NBC's O&O group in some fantasy thing I once had, I thought WTHR would be a good choice for expansion (it is the top station in its market, and has been since about the early-2000s). In one of them, to round it out to ten, I filled that with WVTM-TV in Birmingham, AL (which NBC really did own, from 1996-2006. In this, however, I used the admittedly poor justification that NBC stepped in to buy the station from New World in late 1994 because none of the other bidders satisfied them. They had to sell it because they had purchased WBRC-TV in that same market from Citicasters that same year).

The desire to go on a road trip has returned.
I associate it with the overwhelmed and depressed feeling of last February/March, even though I'm not behind on my schoolwork or anything right now and I have no reason to feel overwhelmed or depressed.

See what I mean about how malls tend to look the same no matter where you go?
And the tackiness for me comes from those banners...the badly-rendered CGI sky, the huge red rounded sans-serifs...

All rounded sans-serifs look the same to me
Also that looks like something you'd see on Tumblr, with a whole bunch of people reblogging it regardless of whether they actually find it funny.

Ok, maybe not "all" rounded sans-serifs, but a lot of them are hard for me to tell apart.
...I'm not very good at this "being a type nerd" thing.

But I doubt I could do it. It's an 8-hour trip, after all.

On an unrelated note, I found this amusing.

I don't know why I'm saying this.

Sonic Generations's OST I downloaded doesn't seem to have its remix of the US Stardust Speedway music.

Also, this popped into my head. The logo and type needed squashing.

Also go on Tumblr, CA.
