I was thinking about my Madeline doll earlier because I was at The Shops at Worthington Place.
My parents took me there back in 1997, when it was still called Worthington Mall. I wanted a Madeline doll, and Larson's Toys & Games was the only store that had them. Larson's was the coolest store ever to me. It was like a toy store you see in a Christmas movie--instead of a bunch of Mattel and Hasbro products in cardboard boxes and annoying blister packs they had all these toys that you could actually, you know, pick up and play with.
A week or so later I told my mother I wanted my name to be Madeline, which I remember because it was embarrassing at the time but kind of funny in retrospect.
