to be honest with you, I have no idea what Security Forces really does. When I first read this strip I thought he was talking about the military police but apparently it's some sort of side-job that Marines can take from their primary MOS (military occupation specialty.)
The reason for the lack of respect at the end is because the Marines portrayed in this comic are infantry, and they hate everyone else. Literally. Infantry is one of those love-it-or-fucking-hate-it occupations and they hate all other non-infantry Marines.

Eh, that doesn't bug me as much. Really, you should probably listen to the No Guts No Galaxy podcasts of recent weeks to get an idea of what the devs want with MW:O. Who knows, maybe they'll at least add a co-op mode somewhere down the line.
^It's not that bad if you get a microphone and use the TeamSpeak servers and stuff. Even if you don't have a microphone, it helps to find a group to join up with.

Yeah, I can't tell you how many times I've lost tank moneys and tank experience because some stupid motherfucker went off hunting the other tanks (and getting killed) whenever he was in vicinity of a base to capture and win it for us all.

I hate playing online multiplayer when I have to talk to people. Regardless if that is with a microphone or via textchat.
I can just barely tolerate the latter, and the former makes me want to punch people. What is the point of an RPG if I cannot play a character? Answer: there is none. At least not for me. Call me antisocial if you want, it's just not an activity I have fun doing. What this looks like to me is Black Ops with more complicated controls, not anything with a story or any real customization beyond the mechs themselves.
Silly me for assuming "MMO" still implied "MMORPG". I might pick it up if the devs ever add content for people who aren't PvP whores. Until then, I'll sit this out.
But the main USP of MMO's is to talk and play with other people.
I've always enjoyed the adventure and advancement aspects of these games, myself. The only social aspect I like about MMOs is the player-driven economies and markets where you can sell and buy shit.

Man, I should know better than to read Slashdot these days. While the links on science and general cool stuff are great, the whiny political articles (DRM, piracy and Usenet, oh my!) are something I've never liked. Trust me, man, MW:O isn't much like that. The playerbase is probably more mature than you'd give it credit for. Helps that most of them are old MechWarrior fans.

Hey nerds if you want to combat fake geek girls how about instead of quizzing them on geek culture or calling them poseur sluts ask them if they have read/watched/played some obscure shit and when they say “no” react with enthusiasm and be all “OMG you have to try it it’s so totally awesome let me recommend you a bunch of stuff” and lend them out a bunch of super nerdy bullshit to the point where they’re inundated with it and they’ll either get into it a lot and really enjoy it or they’ll rethink the whole “if I pretend to be a nerd and like guy stuff cute sensitive nerd boys will like me” thing.
