Uh, Forsythe, I can understand why you're mad now, but what provoked your fiery outburst before that? The suggestion that not all CEOs are honest people who want the best for their company and the people they employ?
But it seems to me that CEOs nowadays don't really care about the long term viability of the companies they run. They just rack up bonuses and short term profit for the complany unsustainably then amscray with nifty retirement packages while leaving the company and the workers to flounder.
It's not a matter of "being able to enjoy the fruit's of their labor", and I'm not saying that unions don't have problems, but that what companies need is leadership that's really invested in the long-term success of the company.
I don't think that's the case here, though. It appears to be a case of unions shooting themselves in the foot because in the process of give-and-take, unions never understand the process of "give" even when the possibility of losing their job is at stake. They pushed so hard that the people running the company found it better to stop pushing back and let them go over the brink.
And as for the CEO giving himself a 300% increase in pay, I'll step back from defending him doing so if it can be proven that 300% could have satiated the union's entire demands. Somehow I doubt that's the case, though.
I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
^^That's good.
YCSTA, they're already gone. 18,500 people are now out of work and yet people care more about the (probably temporary) disappearance of junk food brands than that.
(though I'm not entirely guiltless, I hope whoever buys the Hostess brands brings back their chocolate covered donuts)

I'm not angry, I'm just not a pushover in regards to bullshit being tossed around as uassailable fact. I also never offered the suggestion that CEOs are honest people or that they're looking out for the best interests of their workers. What I did say is that unions are organized thugs motivated by their own self-interest and nepotism at the cost of everyone else -- which, for instance, is why we have dock workers whose entire job is to kick boxes around and they get paid $40 an hour for it.

But you ignore similar behaviors in CEOs!
CEOs are the ones providing the jobs. If these workers think this CEO is a fucking asshole for giving himself a raise, or instance, they can go find work elsewhere. If they go find work elsewhere, the CEO has nobody to work for him. If the CEO has nobody to work for him, he can't generate a profit. That's the beauty of free enterprise. Strongarming him by being thugs is not the way to fix this problem.
Over in North Korea, this exact same thing is going on with people exploiting the people beneath themselves to benefit themselves. The thing is, those people underneath them have no say in the matter and have no other choice. They can't quit and find a better job.

I just said that you got paid with fruits of other people's labours and considered your position to be extremely hypocritical.
Fine, prove it
Show me that my service to the country totally benefits only me (thus proving my hypocrisy) and I or any other typical troop who finished an honorable enlistment did absolutely nothing and gave absolutely nothing for any of this.
And I'm going to hold you to this, too. I'll wait as long as you need to prove this. Take your time.

What if they wanted to save the company?
Also Forsythe, you haven't asked me why I'm pissed off with the CEO of this company.

Again, not saying you didn't earn it but the US military is paid for by the Federal tax system is it not?
And the Federal tax system only gets its money through income and asset taxes which require people to work right?
So therefore the US military can not exist without the fruits of other peoples labours.
Okay, guys, time out. Can we take the CEO discussion to another thread or PMs, please? Also, the tone is getting real close to becoming personal, which I'm not sure I like.

Anyway, I have to get going. My parents could not get to Granny's car because of whacky shenanigans, so I have to drive to Manassas to meet them for dinner.

COLUMBUS, OH - Leaders of the Unity Church of God were recently surprised after one of the many care packages they have sent to anonymous service members overseas was returned with all of its original contents — but had an additional note inside from the soldier who had received it.
The note read: “Thank you for the kind gesture. Unfortunately, I have no need for any of this stuff. Please send porn and beer.”

I'd think that's kind of like how everyone thinks that they should just let that poor fucking Trix rabbit have a bowl of that cereal, but that'd ruin the premise of the Trix commercials and gimmick
Heh, I was at LensCrafters with my mom just now, while she was getting her glasses adjusted, and I noticed they have a whole wall of "COOL KID" glasses frames. Sadly, none of them were sunglasses.

I've got my own homemade pizza sauce simmering on the stove, I wonder if it's the soil and climate that impart the really unique (and delicious) smell emanating from them.
What's sad is that's all my tomatoes from the harvest on the stove, there.
