While we're on the subject of the Turbografx-16, the ever-present element who always reminds everyone that it's really an 8-bit machine are fucking annoying, as if that really matters. In fact, the Turbo's parallel 8-bit CPUs are faster than the Genesis/Megadrive's and the SNES's CPUs (and the SNES CPU is actually faster than the Megadrive's. Surprise!)
Was the "16" supposed to indicate "16 bit"?
I guess that's technically false advertising. But really, who cares? Especially nowadays when bit count isn't really a thing that is advertised anymore?
Sounds like a similar case to Blinx The Timesweeper
who should also be in our game, because fuck y'all, Blinx was kick-ass. He was the Prince of Persia, but he was a cat. How is that not fucking incredible?

Well bit count should have never been anything in the first place. The entire job for a CPU in those old consoles is to grab the info from the cartridge rom and give it to the video chipset with an instruction. When NEC designed the PC Engine/TB16, they had this in mind and went with a much cheaper and faster 8-bit CPU coupled with a 16-bit video processor.
Case in point, the Neo Geo. It's a 16-bit system (not 24, geez) that's comparable to the Megadrive in almost every way except it had, for the time, an incredibly fucking powerful video chipset. It showed up at the beginning of the 16 bit wars and outlasted the PS1 by 3 years.

Funnily enough, I have to this day still never beaten the original Blinx: The Timesweeper. The last world was simply too difficult for me the last time I played it, which was probably about 2006 or so, and the game was old even then.
Yeah, I get the feeling the people bashing on the TG16 are "IT DOES WHAT NINTENDON'T!1!!!1" types that simply won't let it go. Also, the 65C816 was a decent processor that never really got a chance between x86 on one front, 68k on another, and ARM and PowerPC later on.
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
The first time I ever saw Ristar was in a Newgrounds short where he had a Pokémon battle with Dynamite Headdy. Except the Pokémon were Megaman characters instead -- Zero and Plantman if I recall correctly. Why this idea came about I have no clue.
I've seen a Let's Play of Dynamite Headdy, but not much of Ristar.
Ther will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the proses of life. All competin plezures bez deshtroyd. But alwayz— do not forget this, Winston — alwayz ther iz the intoxicashun of power, increashin and constanly growin sutler. Alwayz, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of nuzzlin an enemy hoo iz helples. If u wantz a vishin of tha future, imagin a kitten booping a man's nose
That's a little bit of the reason why I don't use mine anymore.
Well, that, and I like how portable, pretty and un-douchebaggy my Sonies are. I like my Beats but I feel like people will think I'm a jerk if I wear them out.
The thing is that it's the sort of thing where, people who know about the stuff on that graph were never going to buy Beats brand anyway. Anyone who would buy them probably would regardless of their quality.
Those aren't universal obviously, but I can't imagine there are many exceptions.
Also, LOL. BEING ABLE TO AFFORD HEADPHONES. WHAT IS THIS SHIT.

TurboHobo!
He should be a boss in our hypothetical game.
Still trying to get people to buy his console in the age of 360s, Wiis, and PS3s.
Sounds like a similar case to Blinx The Timesweeper

Before Parkour was a thing!
See what I mean? Ahead of their time.

Oh my!
Also, at last page:
I don't even recognize this "Ristar".
Also, poor, poor Bubsy.
Having just Googled it, it seems to basically be....Sonic the Hedgehog.
But with Sonic replaced by a Star.
That
that really seems to be the only difference.

Gabe and Tycho debated who to use in the last panel. Gex was also a contender, but they
thought Ristar was just so much sadder and irrelevant.
Oh the animated version absolutely.
But again, dude obviously had bills to pay.

Yeah, he couldn't even afford pants.

...yup, those were the days
which I'm just using as an excuse to post that song again
And suddenly all video on my computer has started lagging horribly.
We're seriously going to start this shit already?
Seems like updating Opera sort of fixed the problem, but now AdBlock isn't working properly.
May you all be happy and well.
Resurgam.

And yet people will buy them anyway.
Because most people don't care.
