And aren't you usually the dude who harps on people for being obnoxious douchebags?

    Huh?

A problem has been detected and Central Avenue has been shut down to avoid damage to her psyche.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. Ensure that Mitt Romney is not installed and your Barack Obama drivers are up to date. If there's a cat around, pet him. Oklahoma is OK.
As you approach the roundabout, yield to traffic already within the circle. Worthless Whore® is a registered trademark of ABC Inc. Please drink responsibly. This tornado warning remains in effect for Madison County.

  • It's amusing.

I used to find these dudes so full of energy and brutality and awesomeness and now for the most part they're pretty boring.

    Anecdote time:

When my mother worked for CompuServe in the 1990s, they had special keyboards with custom-labeled function keys. But one of the function keys wasn't used for anything, so it was just left blank.

When the computers would crash (as Windows 3.1 machines often did), they would always joke that the unlabeled key was the "any" key.

The only brutal band left is Borbetomagus.

    Oh and Converge.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I'd say that there are others. But I enjoy both of them.
  • You say "brutality" like it's a desirable trait.
  • edited 2012-11-09 21:58:38

But they are the only ones i can think of that pull it off by just being really absurdly brutal all of the time as opposed to doing it with clever use of dynamics to make the brutalness brutal-er.

but yeah there are others, just not dudes that come to mind.

and i'm not counting harsh noise

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I like bludgeoning and emotionally compromising music. Sure, aiming purely for brutality is stupid, but music that can actually make me feel like that is valuable to me.

I would post Xiu Xiu's "Brooklyn Dodgers" here as a demonstration, but the cover of A Promise is... awkward. (Musically, that one is less "brutal" than "surreal," but the cumulative effect is... gaah.)

That just puts a stupid grin on my face. It's at once uncompromising and exhilarating.

    (*google-fu*)

    well this is something.

also it's pretty brutal, but not in quite the way i meant exactly...

can't put my finger on what i mean.
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
I get what you mean. It's a different implication of the word.
  • i hate it when i'm vague like this.

also Concubine is like the best album opener ever IMO

I made a file called life.odt that contains inspirational things my online friends have said to me, all gathered up into one place.

    Things that give me hope...

    Is this silly?
  • Not really

    actually it's kinda sweet.

maybe it should be called Hope.odt instead...

^^^^ Musically, I think it's like... the difference between being thrown off a bridge and watching someone get thrown off a bridge with the knowledge that you're next.

    ^^^ Not at all.

    ^^ This.

thanks for articulating that for me.

    But see

I don't like either of these feelings.

Of course everyone said that (Boards of Canada's) Geogaddi was supposed to be some disturbing unnerving album, and I didn't really find it such. Geogaddi is how I feel when I'm sick and go to sleep and have a fever dream.

  • though really concubine is more of a "just been dumped out of the blue" than "thrown off the bridge"

and it really is 100% emotionally accurate.

see, I think "hope" is a better description

but it just makes me think of this

  • I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
But that's a good thing to think of, right?

Well, it is a pretty cool poster...and I like what it stands for...I guess!

    And it's got Gotham!

Also, I accidentally clicked the "Flag" button one of Lazuli's posts and I noticed something strange:

    image

I can't find anywhere else in the software that his handle is spelled like that...
  • that's how it should be spelled if you can't use umlauts.
  • It's on his profile page too.

Go look. Click "About Super Lazzy" and look at his username.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
I've noticed that on my profile it spells my name "Imipoelex"...must be the umlaut.
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    THE NINJAS
  • remember, letters with umlauts are completely different characters from ones without

They do. And they still sound like all Hell in motion.

    There's an object-lesson...

I figured, but it's weird that Vanilla stores the username two different ways.

i guess it's pronounced soo-per lee-zoo-li then, if it's spelled with an Æ like aeon flux

likewise, imipoelex would be imi-pee-lex, like onomatopoeia
  • A two things i must know

How is peter able to wear that jacket and not melt

how does he have that lung capacity holy shit
  • It's actually closer to "Super Lazily". This is a pun, yes.

    “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
Actually, ä is more like an eh sound. It's always me, isn't it?
  • And This Is Why I Say Lazzy

because I didn't entirely know how to say "laezuli"
  • “I'm surprised. Those clothes… but, aren't you…?”
    @Truant: Because he's Peter Brötzmann.
