If you've been kicked in or abused or mistreated or misused
You were told there is nowhere to go but up for you
If you've been hurt or you've been betrayed
Or you've been fucked or you've been displaced
You were told it was probably your fault anyway

But when your Hustler subscription and your Xanax prescriptions
    Make you feel lonelier instead
You don't want to hear about all those starving children
You don't want to be told it's all in your head
'Cause if it's all in your head, that's terrible

I saw a junkie lying in a puddle of his own blood last week
I saw a cyclist get hit by a car
I saw a homeless guy chug a bottle of mouthwash on Christmas Eve
No, you can never fall too far

You can by a salad glove, you can by an iPod
And you can sell that shit to Bookmans when your wife dies and you lose your job
You can hope it gets better, you can follow your dreams
But hope is for presidents and dreams are for people who are sleeping

My friend Erin says, "at best, we're all two or three bad decisions away
from becoming the ones that we fear and pity"
And Tony says it's important to bear some witness when you can
And that’s not hard to do in the city that I live in

You don't have it any better, you don't have it any worse
You're an irreplaceable human soul with your own understanding of what it means to suffer
    And that’s a huge bummer

    holy shit
  • Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast
Can you dear dear forumites please tell this dodgy funny furringer why there is so much rage about Obama being re-elected?

Because I've really tried to wrap my socialist nannystate brain around it and got nothing.
  • *hugs everyone*

    hows you Tools?

Because frankly, the more extreme American conservatives are loony, and they tend to be the ones raging.

Or, it's Libertarians upset that "the system" has won again.

    Welcome to the North

and so are a lot of the women
  • She sounds like CWC.
  • Um

    Wow.

    This is.

    Um.

I can't decide which part I like better, the random tour of her clutter or the fact that she believes being born on July 4 gives her a special AMERICAN point of view.

Fun fact: When we first got 65x65 avatars here I was a little unsettled because 65 isn't a "pure" number but 64 is.

But I didn't say anything, because purity is stupid.

    Really?

I would think 65 is more pure because it is divisible by 5.
  • You are the end result of a “would you push the button” prompt where the prompt was “you have unlimited godlike powers but you appear to all and sundry to be an impetuous child” – Zero, 2022
But 64 is a power of 2, you see.

Powers of 2 trump everything else, purity-wise.

Would 70x70 work, then? Divisive by 5 and 2, roughly the same size.

Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."
64 is also a square number that can be divided into four equal square numbers.
  • But 64 is a power of 2, you see.

Powers of 2 trump everything else, purity-wise.
    Huh.

odd numbers seem more solid to me
  • I both love and hate the fact that Zedd's album starts and ends with the same exact melody and tick-tock clock noise.

The reason? It keeps you trapped.
  • That 5 at the end adds a sort of rough angularity, I like how it goes with the more smooth, oval-ish character of 6.
  • Free music, woo.

    I'll take a listen. :)
  • Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast

  • Night Whaley. :D
  • It's pretty chill stuff, reminds me of Koan Sound a lot.

I've learned to tolerate drama...except on the boat
CA you made me think of the bit war

Personally I find it maddening that the console makers don't talk about bits anymore

    1. Is it a power of 2?
      YES: Pure
      NO: Step 2
    2. Is it a multiple of 10?
      YES: Step 3
      NO: Step 5
    3. Is it greater than 99?
      YES: Step 4
      NO: Step 8
    4. Is it a multiple of 100?
      YES: Step 6
NO: Go back to step 1, but only look at the significant figures
    5. Is it a multiple of 25?
      YES: Step 6
      NO: Step 7
    6. Is it within one or two numbers of a power of 2? (e.g., 65, 31, 130)
YES: Impure. Use the power of 2 instead.
      NO: Pure
    7. Is it less than 25?
      YES: Step 8
      NO: Impure.
    8. Is it a multiple of 5?
      YES: Step 6
      NO: Impure.
...That's not entirely complete, but you get an idea, I think

for the record, this is integers only
  • That is too convoluted.

You need a simpler way to ascertain purity.
  • >saxophone chillstep

    Sign me the hell up.
  • Oh, cool, this first song was on Turntable once but I couldn't for the life of me find out what song it was. :}

Technology kinda came and made it irrelevant. In an era where pretty much everything has hit 64-bit it's not really a selling point anymore, you know? It'd be like advertising a new car as having anti-lock brakes.

The closest equivalent nowadays seems to be the number of cores, and even that's not nearly as hyped as the bits thing was back in the day...

I like The Spanish Tragedy more than The Courier's Tragedy. I'm not sure how this affects my future dating plans.

  • pseudo-intellectual

This kind of reminds me of a thing I've taken up saying recently.

"I'm not smart. I'm just really good at BSing enough to make it look like it."

Sorry, I'm no fan of spoken word, or girls named Stephanie.
  • Doctor Who reference in Pokemon B2W2? Headcanon accepted.

Because I've really tried to wrap my socialist nannystate brain around it and got nothing.

This is a startling admission considering how most left-leaning British citizens react at Thatcher's name being mentioned
  • Touch the cow. Do it now.
    Hell Week is over. YAY

Also, The Courier's Tragedy is awesome and C.S. Lewis was not Mormon.
