So this is what it's like to be able to taste the butthurt from over the internet.
??
What Justice means is whoever you're hearing that from is either all in some really stupid joke or they're dumb enough to think Lisp has any practical use outside learning the foundations of programming languages

^^^I would hope not...
I'm not sure in what world Python and Lisp are considered the pinnacle of the coding library.
Oh wait...
For the record, I have nothing against either language. Just that, they're not exactly what jumps to mind when I think "Programming languages that companies fork over huge sacks of cash for if you can write in them."
Remember back in the 50s when they'd record like Elvis singing YOU AIN'T NOTHIN BUT A HOUND DOG and then they'd turn the record over and reverse it and it was all NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP NYERP and people were all like, "That is actually the voice of Satan coming from that song."

"Well, I have no idea what "useful" means to these people."
I would hazard to guess they're either just getting into programming, or trying to make some sort of video game, or both.
Which is fine. They just need to realize that isn't exactly the fast track to creating brilliant pieces of software.
For the sake of internet clarity, I'm not attempting to make fun of you. It just amuses me that anyone with even a basic understanding of programming languages (E.G. these people you're talking about) would pick LISP and Python as the top of the echelon.

Zero Wing is allegedly actually a decent game, but I've never played it.
I just long for the day when ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US is retro and thus, cool again, because I still find it amusing.
I've heard the music is really good, but the only songs I can remember off the top of my head are the opening theme and the first level music. I do like the latter song, though.
Speaking of the first level, I always thought Natols was a weird planet name.

Here I am running the PC Engine/Turbografx port which suffered a bit because the PC Engine has only 1 background layer (where the Genesis has 2 and the SNES has 3)
It's not bad shooter, but it's certainly not a genre-defining one like Gradius, Gaiares or even Darius.

....but the music is where the PC Engine version shines. The Natols theme is played with actual instruments, not some flimsy 16-bit console sound chip.
Also I've never heard of Gaiares. Or if I have, under a different name.
Gaiares was one of the first 8-megabit shooters to hit stateside, which they used all that extra space to make it one of the more visually impressive Genesis/Megadrive shooters. There's no power-ups, you have to "steal" weaponry from enemy ships.

I've been thinking about Revelations: Persona a lot lately.
I think it's accurate to say that it's like the 4Kids dub of Yu-Gi-Oh!, but with significantly less censorship of death and violence. It's hilariously bad.
In fact, I'd love to do a liveblog of it if I ever had the chance. I'd be curious to see your reactions to it.

Well I hear it pretty frequently.
Well
no, not frequently.
But more than twice.
Which is frequently enough for me.

They're bad Amnesia clones that substitute originality with borrowed internet lore. End of story.
So's Slender, for that matter.
glorious.

this is very jangly, Truant.

I don't get why people always seem to assume Randall Munroe is constantly serious 100% of the time when he writes xkcd.
Speaking of the first level, I always thought Natols was a weird planet name.
Are you playing that, like, right now?
Also I've never heard of Gaiares. Or if I have, under a different name.
Also a lot of people seem to not like Darius.
After listening to a couple AJJ songs I don't think I like them. I don't really care for this sort of smugly sarcastic indie rock.
Anyone remember Travis? They were an alright band.
Sounds pretty cool. Might see if I can't find a way to play it and kill a few hours with it sometime.
Not right now though.
Unrelated: It's really sad to me that Primitive Radio Gods never got really, any exposure.
THUNDER FORCE
good game but I never did beat it.

I'd post more mammaries but those seem to get a lukewarm response
