Glory unto the Scarlet Woman, Babalon the Mother of Abominations, that rideth upon the Beast, for she hath spilt their blood in every corner of the earth and lo! she hath mingled it in the cup of her whoredom.

You know I have this wonderful book here written at the beginning of the 20th century which details exactly how the Mysteries of Babylon (Queen of Heaven, etc) spread across the entire world and into every culture. Pretty fascinating read
I WEAR THE PANTS IN THIS HOUSE now go make me a sandwich while I watch my cartoon whose intended demographic is 5 year old girls and devour pages of political hogwash written by a flapper which I will meld together seamlessly into a philosophy that will save the free world; heh there I go again bending reality to suit me
Forsythe, the so-called "Dark Ages" were actually a rather progressive time for study and thought. I would say that intellectuals were more respected back then than they are now (see: Global Warming Controversy).
I really think that the "respect dumb notions" thing is more an aspect of our modern age of open-mindedness and tolerance than it is an artifact of the age of Absolutism.

Global warming is regarded as a fact in like 99% of the world.
Where I live, schoolteachers are fired for not teaching both sides of the argument, because that entails bringing your own agenda and views into your teaching.

You'd be surprised at the number of Americans who disagreed with it back in the 2000s.

The number of Global Warming Doubters is about 10% of that 5% (rough estimate)

There was a period of time where what you are describing happened. It is called "The Renaissance." The "Dark Ages" are what immediately preceded this enlightened time. They are called the "Dark Ages" for a reason, and it's not because it was "a rather progressive time" as you put it

The chain of events that lead to this is unfathomably ludicrous, and I am not happy about it.

I don't like upwards of 20 in the same place at once while they're all wired on caffeine.
